Looks like that plan to capture all the moderates and independents ain’t working enough.
Here’s my prediction: About a month out from elections, Romney’s team, in desperation, will turn right to finally
begin to reach out to conservatives. You know, the ones that
always save the GOP’s hind quarter and get nothing in return
for it.
Will his last minute”come to Jesus moment” work with conservatives? Only time will tell. I guess it kind of depends on the promises he makes to conservatives.
Romney’s promises are worthless. They are nothing. It really doesn’t matter what either of the candidates say, because once they are elected, they can do pretty much whatever they want, like McCain. Once elected, these guys are virtually untouchable.
It’s ridiculous to think conservatives can hold a President Romney’s feet to the fire in any way after the election. Romney and his ilk are what they are regardless. The man is a slimy moderate, and he’s not a young man. He’s set in his squishy RINO ways. That’s why primaries are so important.
If by some chance Romney actually manages to get elected and governs even remotely as a conservative, I would consider it an amazing surprise. I would be thinking along the lines of, “Amazing how Romney hid his conservatism so well for so long!”
Every real conservative I know of is already voting and supporting Romney because they know this isn’t about winning an election but far more about losing everything.
