Theres no Wheaton Bandit, Bomb Lady Bandit or Swine Flu Bandit to blame for the rise in local bank robberies.
Rather, a group of average-looking mopes likely desperate for cash to fuel drug or gambling addictions is driving up the number of local bank heists.
The Chicago FBI office has recorded 117 bank robberies so far this year, two more than in all of 2011.
Ross Rice, FBI spokesman, said 2011 was simply a really slow year.
People didnt rob banks, he said. Its really that simple. Less people robbed banks and we dont know why.
Since Monday, three local banks were robbed one in Bridgeview, one in Northlake and one on Chicagos South Side.

When Banks started opening branches in Supermarkets, like TCF Bank and Jewel Foods in the Chi. Metro Area, I immediately thought:
'Jeez how stupid can you be? These are easy pickings. No teller window, no guard, no security, no nothing. Just a young kid behind an open counter with a money drawer full of cash -- all in a big store full of women who are food shopping. They'll (TCF Bank) be robbed tomorrow.'Now the one in my Village wasn't robbed 'tomorrow'. It took a few years years, as our crime rate is pretty low for this stuff. But robbed it finally was, this past Spring.
By some Amish 'youth' who got clean away (and we don't have many Amish in our Village).

A Bank Robbery rate that could be more than 150% of what it was last year. Any idea of how big a growth since say, 2007?
