Besides knowing who to vote for earlier today, the Metz family of Lenexa checked off another important piece of preparation making sure everyone had photo ID before going to the polls.
Todays primary election in Kansas is the first major run for Kansas requirement that all voters show a government-issued photo identification.
So as they left for their polling place at the Central Church of the Nazarene in Lenexa, Marty and Kristin Metz made sure that they and their daughter Joy Metz carried identification.
I thought it went well, Marty Metz said of the process of showing his ID. It was really smooth. Easy.
Seamless, Kristin Metz added.
Bob Zurcher, supervising judge at the polling location at the Central Church of the Nazarene, said turnout was better than he expected.
By noon, close to 200 voters had cast their ballots at the location.
I thought the turnout was going to be very slow, making it a very long day, he said.
Instead, people were trickling in at a steady pace. If that continues, as many as 600 or 700 people would be voting at that location.
For a primary election, that is very good, Zurcher said.

I loved showing my ID for the first time tonight. I’m so happy Kansas has this law. I’m sure the dems and RINOs complained about it the whole day.
I’ve been showing my ID every year and this year I told them how happy I was to be required to show it. And with only 1% reporting, my guy is up 54%
Its not like there are many illegals here...
They have thinned out somewhat of late, what with the construction lag and whatnot.
Even the kill plants are tightening up. This all bodes well.
Saw an article earlier today about the Minnesota Senate race reeking of voter fraud.
Where is the whacko's crying about seperation of church and state?
Used to live near this church. Attended the wedding of my daughters best friend there and it’s a beautiful church. The neighborhood is also quite nice so it’s unlikely any of Holder’s black panther thugs were there.
Voting as it should be. Hat tip Kansas!
No ID problems at our polling site. Everyone knew it was coming. Everyone knows it is required for everyday activities. Only people with illegal intentions do not have valid ID (or claim they don’t).
How anyone can get upset at having to show an ID to vote is beyond me? Before same-day registration, I used to say that I really don't want the clueless people who didn't know that you have to register to vote actually casting ballots.
I love how the liberal idiots attack only certain states when it comes to voter ID.
TN had it, then the Dems took it away and the GOP put it back. When you didn’t need to show an ID I saw lots of fake voters in precints trying to get provisional ballots and whining because they swear they were on the rolls.
They didn’t even live there. And they were of a particular racial makeup. We followed one girl from our voting place that went to another and tried the same thing. I came up behind her and tried the same thing. I got turned down so I called them on it that they were going to let her vote and I saw her vote at another place.
I suggested we call the police and the voter fraud freak left.
Folks, don’t take this crap from them.
This too, probably helped in defeating moderates. Because moderates are democrats.
