GOP strategist Ed Rollins, who last ran the early part of Rep. Michele Bachmanns (R-MN) presidential run, told Fox News that his party needs to broaden the base if it wants to suceed into the future and needs to look less like, well, him.
It is a bunch of old, white guys, and unfortunately, a lot of them are fat like me like Haley Barbour, my former deputy, and others, he said.

And get rid of those filthy conservatives, huh Ed?
I may get flamed for saying this, but an important part of implementing good policy is having good public relations. Having nearly all of a party’s leadership and representatives as aging white men with weight problems is bad public relations. If you don’t believe me, look at how badly conservative women and conservative ethnic minorities are smeared and you’ll know that liberals are scared of them.
I think Ed Rollins is Right!I think I’m changing my voter affiliation to Independent.I Have had it with the GOP.
How ironic....Ed Rollins is OLD, FAT, and WHITE
Ed Rollins can shut the pie hole.
No thanks Eddie, don't need Moderate POS like you steering good Conservatives down a dead end road again.
Maybe they should adopt gay marriage, or affirmative action, or obamacare into the GOP platform? Would that bring in enoungh skinny brown gays, Ed?
I have a can of dark spray paint, Ed, would you like to use it first?
But seriously, Romney’s now looking at blowout, now that the midwest is in play - thanks to those fat, white guys, that Obama didn’t think he needed. Other states are moving Romney’s way strongly now - states that were supposed to be competitive - like NC and VA.
Sorry Ed, maybe 20 years from now we’ll become less competitive - but for now - owning the House, about to take the Senate and the White House, I would say that the Dems have the problem.
Thr Irony is the conservatives such Palin, Jindhal, Cruz, Rubio are precisely what the Establishment does not want.
Geeez with “friends” like this...
As opposed to what? Young, lazy, dirty, & stoopid?
And less of a chronic loser, loudmouth and dirtbag.
He is a cretin. Exactly the kind of political invertebrate that delivers sure fire losses with his mewling cowardice. Dems see Ed Rollins and really get to sharpening their knives.
If we had had the guts to control immigration, this would be a non-issue.
But that’s exactly the way the left and media want it and they have worked VERY hard to keep it that way. A black Republican has to have incredible fortitude since it would be much easier to go with the flow and be a Democrat, where he’ll be subject to much less scrutiny.
Any minority or woman who gains national prominence in the Republican party eventually meets up with an avalanche of vicious attacks by the left and the leftist media (witness Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, Clarence Thomas, and even Colin Powell before he backed Obama).
Liberals fear what will happen once Republicans make more headway with minorities and women. So in consequence they have to do all they can to try to make sure that it doesn’t happen.
I’m not saying that Republicans couldn’t do better, but Democrats have a vested interest in making sure that Republicans continue to be perceived as the “old, fat and white” party.
He’s pretty much our Bob Shrum. Please tell me why we should listen to his suggestions?
Ed Rollins is and always will be a...
LOSER...

Excellent point, which proves that Ed Rollins is right for once.
Has Ed looked in a mirror lately?
