The entire statement is a bit more revealing and not quite so damning:
“I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”
In other words, Romney rightly affirms it is the right of an organization to set its own rules. If he were making the rules, he’d let homosexuals participate.
Now, while I think he is a bit off base with his second observation, I more fully appreciate his first observation...one of non-interference into the affairs of a private organization.
But once he's president HE WILL have the right to make decisions based on his beliefs. He will get to approve or veto legislation; he will get to issue executive orders; he will get to nominate like-minded people to positions of influence.
The OPINIONS of a president MATTER!
I agree with you, that is what he said, but I think his views on that will harm him more than probably anything else he’s said.
I’ve seen what pedos do, and know damned well if it were ever opened up, you’d have abuse beyond the pale. Even without them openly allowing gays in, they sneak in and do horrible things.. and thats with EVERYONE on constant guard.
Yes, I know not all homos are pedophiles, but as a proportion of their population it is a HUGE percentage, and many were abused themselves by men in their past which is why they are homosexual and pedophiles themselves (yes, I know not all men abused as children wind up gay and pedophiles, but the link is very very clear that sadly if that happens to you, you are more likely than most to wind up that way.)
I celebrate that the Scouts have put the safety of children far above the political correctness of the gay lobby.
But I wouldn’t want him on the Troop Board ~ nor would I trust this dude on camping trips. He’d be the kind of parent we’d want to stay home and away from our Boy Scout troop.
The entire statement is a bit more revealing and not quite so damning:I concur with your observation. Unfortunately, your opinion is not going to sway anyone today.
I agree with the angels right to decline the abuse, but I personally think it is OK if they want to abuse them.
Funny, he hasn't upheld that principle yet when it comes to Chick-fil-A's CEO's right to express his religious views without being discriminated against by the government.
In Massachusetts in 2006, Romney pushed and passed law that DENIED the right of adoption agencies to set their own rules with regard to homosexual adoption. When Romney says he thinks gays should have the "right" to adopt children, what he really means is that government should have the right to PUNISH adoption agencies that refuse to cooperate with homosexuals.
