OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBSDC/AP) — Authorities tell CBS News that the shooter behind the deadly massacre at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin Sunday has been identified as 40-year-old Wade Michael Page.
Page previously served in the U.S. military, but was no longer on active duty, sources tell CBS News.
CBS News reports that Page enlisted in the Army in April 1992 and was given a less-than-honorable discharge in October 1998. He was last stationed in Fort Bragg, N.C., serving in the psychological operations unit.
The Southern Poverty Law Center told the Associated Press that Page was a musician in white power bands whose lyrics express hate against minorities and ethnic groups.
Mark Potok, spokesperson for the Southern Poverty Law Center, said Monday that Page had been on the white power music scene for more than a decade in bands including Definite Hate and End Apathy.

Administrative:
Honorable
General (under honorable conditions)
Other than Honorable (OTH)
Punitive:
Bad Conduct (DCD)
Dishonorable
Only a Dishonorable Discharge is a disqualifier for a firearms purchase on the Federal form one fills out when buying a firearm.
I served in the Marine Corps and I would not want a General Discharge on my DD214. However, I have worked at several places that required background checks an all they were concerned about was if someone received a punitive type discharge. Administrative type discharges were handled on a case by case basis depending on what was on their DD214 forum.
If it were a Dishonorable, or even a Bad Conduct Discharge pursuant to a Courts Martial finding, you would be correct. An Administrative General Discharge under less than Honorable Conditions would not fall along those lines. News reports say that he was discharged less than honorably, but don't give those details (as if your average j-school putz would even know the difference...)

What on God’s green earth is a far right punk band? I have never come across a single conservative in my life who has any interest in punk rock. An easy smear to connect the type of skinhead racists with the “right”, ie. “conservatives”. There is nothing right wing or conservative about any scum of this sort, but the media love to do the smear job.
It is the New Left's equivalent of spitting on returning soldiers while they pay lip service to honoring our troops. Recall that they viewed the War on Terror as 'Bush's War', and spent hours of airtime and hundreds of column inches declaring Iraq and Afghanistan to be a "quagmire" and the "next Vietnam". Pushing the memes to make Bush look bad, and ultimately, our troops, they set about doing all in their power to make those self-fulfilling prophesies. When the surge worked, Also, military benefits are under attack, and taking every opportunity to paint vets in a bad light helps to reduce the public sympathy level regarding the benefit:service bait and switch that Obama and the democrats are trying to engineer.

However, I knew several fellow Marines who received General (under Honorable Condition) Discharges and I don’t consider their service to be “dishonorable”. Not all service members who received a General Discharge are total screw-ups like this guy was.
I just don’t like the “all General (UHC) Discharges are dishonorable” talk that some people are engaging in. I will admit that I have a soft spot in this matter because one of my best friends in the Marines got a General (UHC) Discharge because his wife was having an affair with another Marine on base and he “took matters into his own hands” and beat the sh*t out of the guy. My friend was an E-3 and the guy he beat up was an E-7. My friend received a General Discharge and the adulterous E-7 did not even get a reprimand. So yeah, I’ve seen good people screwed. Let’s not lump everyone into the same category.

I believe this shooter was planning to collect an Islamic bounty placed upon the head of the visiting Sikh.
If anything I think the attention should be upon the Muslim brotherhood and soldier of fortune wannabes hoping to get rich.
This is a valid assumption, Islam has offered rewards to those that kill infidels, doesn’t matter who. You get some desperate cash starpped not too sharp in the upstairs department people anything can happen.
Of course Obama wants this all smothered QUICKLY. Obama does not want undue attention to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Right again. Cutting funding for local law enforcement and fire fighting is the favorite tactic when they're attempting to squeeze us for higher property taxes.
Cutting military benefits after the fact is nothing less than a swindle.
