President Barack Obamas re-election effort is paying close attention to two candidates mounting third-party campaigns for the presidency, believing they could draw votes from Republican rival Mitt Romney and help Obama win a few tightly contested states.
One candidate is Virgil Goode, a former conservative Virginia congressman who is running as a member of the Constitution Party....."
The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.
The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006
"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,
[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."

"A political party cannot be all things to all people.
It must represent certain fundamental beliefs
which must not be compromised to political expediency
or simply to swell its numbers."
-- President Ronald Reagan
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldnt make any sense at all.""
-- President Ronald Reagan
... their electoral hopes lie in the belief that people will be motivated by abject fear.
????! How do you read that into the first statement?
Speaking of pathetic ...
Look around. If you can’t discern that all Romney Republicans have to go on is fear of Obama, you need to have your eyes checked.
And the quote from his campaign confirms what is already obvious.
And my righteous anger will not be relieved by voting for a 3rd Party candidate since that leaves the Occupy_WH movement in place.
Good post. But you left out Tom Hoefling 2012! And I think the Falcon Party is running someone too.
So, no “righteous anger” at Mitt Romney’s implementation of the worst parts of the homosexual agenda, or his constitutional breaches, or his usurpations of the prerogatives of the legislative branch, or his radical liberal judicial nominations, or his passage of socialized medicine, complete with $50 co-pay taxpayer-funded abortions, or the rest of his pro-abortion past, or his pro-choice democrat present, or his gun-banning, or his utter lack of concern about the Islamist threat, or his constant lying about all of it?
Okey-dokey then. Good luck.
Like everything else they try, this one will fail too. Why? Because there are any number of Democrats who would welcome a third party sump tank for their votes. Obama does not sit well with many Dems. 3d party is an honorable way for them not to vote for zero.
Net washout at best.
Next?
Thanks for your post.
I have to admit, you make good points.
I reserve the right to dispute them in the future, however.
