Senate Republicans recently blocked cybersecurity legislation, but the issue might not be dead after all.
The White House hasn't ruled out issuing an executive order to strengthen the nation's defenses against cyber attacks if Congress refuses to act.
In the wake of Congressional inaction and Republican stall tactics, unfortunately, we will continue to be hamstrung by outdated and inadequate statutory authorities that the legislation would have fixed," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said in an emailed response to whether the president is considering a cybersecurity order.

Hussein doesn’t think much of that “will of the people” thing.
Chicken sh** repuplicrats won’t impeach him.
We don’t need no stinkin’ ‘Separation of Powers’ when we have the One. /s
Dictator-in-chief. Why is he not in an orange jump-suit behind bars?
“Obama weighs executive-order option”. Why do we need a congress? Save some money - let the president rule our country by EO. He pretty much does anyway.
The bill would have encouraged private companies and the government to share information about cyber threats and would have required critical infrastructure operators to meet minimum cybersecurity standards.
Is there something here that the Republicans don’t like? I am all about keeping the government out of the people’s house, but the biggest risk to America by terrorists is now cyber attacks or possible loss of electricity for the entire country.
Too bad the Repbulican party are bunch of pansy, wuss, girly-guys or they could make this a huge issue, but like every other oppty they have had, they will squander it and ignore it.
He's got to go. Right about now I'd vote for the devil if I thought he could win and remove us from the most vile, evil, disgusting, corrupt, POS this country has ever had the misfortune electing as our President.
Sorry, as "their" President, because he sure ain't mine!
Somebody needs to tell the Fluken Kenyan how America works. AMERICA SAID NO YOU MORON! We definitely need to send the boy’s goatsmellin’ ass back to Kenya in November.
Two problems with this. The President has zero (zip, null) statutory authority and the Courts frown on prior restraint and prior restraint is always challenged.
The reason the Republicans voted against the bill was gun control.
Democratic senators offer gun control amendment for cybersecurity bill

... and congressional leaders of both houses and both parties refuse to do anything about it!
Imagine how his purple lips would clash with the orange jump suit. Simply hideous.
Thanks Satin doll.....I did not get that when reading. This is good that the Republicans stopped this. They are going to be under increased pressure to pass gun control more now than ever after today. They need to keep strong.
NEVER let the camels head get into the tent, especially if it's a defective camel!
Abortion was for one woman with a severely disabled, if not dead, child in her womb.
Homosexuals wanted tolerance for those things they did in private, away from the publics eyes.
The environmentalist wanted people to stop throwing trash out of their cars.
Welfare used to be for the truly needy.
Should I go on? Why not ask the private sector, the American people, to come up with a solution? Let's face it, the government screws up everything. The private sector would come up with something brilliant.
Ubamugabe will show the white devil who is boss.
Is that what your email from the DNC said?
This is all a Democrat stunt to blame Republicans in Congress.
Dirty Harry Reid pushed the bill to a vote knowing he didn’t have enough votes to pass it. He knew because some of his own senators were telling him they were against it as written , but they and the Republican senate leaders were working on a modification that would please all.
With the vote scheduled, the Republicans dropped their modification and had to vote against the Democrat version. Reid didn’t let amendments in either. Now, Obama is grand standing and saying Republicans are obstructive and ignoring cyber security. Big lies.
