At least four people were shot just after 10 a.m. Sunday at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, and a police SWAT team entered the building before noon and brought uninjured people out of the building at 7512 S. Howell Ave.
Among those who were shot was the president of the temple.
People were in the temple as early as 6:30 a.m. Sunday and many more were arriving for a service that was to begin about 11:30 a.m.
There were reports that children were taken to the building's basement after shots were fired.
I’m confused. At first I had heard there were three or four, but now my understanding is there was just one.
Per the Daily Mail:
At least six people were killed Sunday when a gunman opened fire at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee, authorities said. The suspected shooter was later killed in exchange of gunfire with police.
Four victims were killed inside Sikh Temple of Wisconsin during a holy ceremony and three were murdered outside the building after at least one gunman struck around 10.30am, police confirmed.
The gunman was described by witnesses as a white male in his thirties.
Police SWAT teams stormed the temple shortly after noon and brought uninjured people out. They then began rescuing injured people from the temple’s prayer room, reported the Milwaukee Wisconsin Sentinel Journal.
Police have said that they no longer believe that there is a second gunman, as was reported earlier. Up to 30 people could have been injured and three men, including the temple’s president, were being treated for critical injuries in hospital.
The longer we don’t know the ID of the shooter, the more likely it is he is Muslim.
Good grief! I have been trying to listen to CNN for updates. What a mess! The “C” team is in...talking about how BHO is on top of things, melting pot, tons of leftist keywords.
Trying to make a hate connection.
The newsheads are total amatuers!
I could run a newsroom better, much better, with a staff of high schoolers!
Okay. Thanks for the update.
Fox is covering it now. A news conference is about to happen.
FOX has been covering it all along non-stop.
No... they were not doing so earlier as a couple of us noted. (I’m speaking of the on the scene nonstop coverage that CNN had.)
Fox is also saying that there was a history of threats against this temple because it was mistaken for a Muslim mosque.
They broke away for election and olympic coverage and that’s why I looked to CNNHD.
Right now they are on and doing a much better job than CNN.
Got a linky for the scanner, Mags? I’m sick of the CNN mouthpieces. Need some ***facts***, if any are available on the scanner.
A member of the Sikh community reported that a man ran naked through their picnic about two years ago in front of the woman and children. He wonders if this might be related.
This seems to be more local stuff now...I am relatively certain the task force is on an “un-published” channel during this event..
What I took from his interview was that this could just be some mentally ill person who picked a random target. That is something you would never hear from the liberal media, they always want it to be a hate crime.
Michelle and I were deeply saddened to learn of the shooting that tragically took so many lives in Wisconsin. At this difficult time, the people of Oak Creek must know that the American people have them in our thoughts and prayers, and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who were killed and wounded. My Administration will provide whatever support is necessary to the officials who are responding to this tragic shooting and moving forward with an investigation. As we mourn this loss which took place at a house of worship, we are reminded how much our country has been enriched by Sikhs, who are a part of our broader American family.
We have a broader American family? Who is part of the family and who is part of the broader family?
Interesting call a bit ago though...bout some “suspicious activity” by a male dressed in all black wearring silver mask... But havent heard anything more about that.
I do, reluctantly, agree with you.
Yes, just caught the threat information.
FWIW there is a major hindu temple in Pittsburgh. Seemingly nice folk although a fellow who used to work for me complained that he had worked for a cleaning company that was hired by the temple.
He claimed...again FWIW...that the cleaning crew was not treated with respect. They had been hired to clean up food left in sacred places so the gods could eat. Food was left to rot. Then his company was called because the priests needed “the unclean” to address the situation.
Keep in mind the source. This is not a sikh temple as far as I know.
There is/was a hindu temple in WVA that was similar and turned out to be basically a scam.
That perked my ears up too. What is that supposed to mean?
