The moves by the Democrats that screwed up the mortgage industry, were put into effect prior to 2006. For that reason I have blamed the Bush team and the Republican Congress for not fixing it.

They knew about it. They talked about it. They did nothing about it. Bush even went so far as to brag what percentage of home ownership we had in that nation, because it would be a feather in his cap. He didn’t really want to put an end to the threat, and neither did the Republican Congress.

I have railed on Frank and Dodd. Everyone should. None the less, we could have cleaned up that mess. So what did our illustrious team do. They punted, like they always do.

Which party could have blocked the mandatory cuts to the military starting next year? Did they? This is the kind of thing I’m talking about. This punting has got to stop. We are screwing the nation. Our party is. The Republican party is.

When things went south, they demonized the lending industry and blamed it for everything that went wrong. And while there were bad players in the industry, the industry was screwed if it held the paper, and screwed if it bundled it and passed it along.

Conservatives DON’T DO THIS to the nation they love.

That’s why my future votes will only go to a reasoned Conservative.

I agree wholeheartedly. But I ask for a sense of proportion.

One party is punting. The other is doing the screwing.

One is cause for disappointment. The other is cause for white-hot hatred.

I may be wrong, but seems to me you're upset with one party -- and it earns all your disdain. While the other gets a pass...

Doughty, If you recall, back during the election of 2000, I recommended that Al Gore be elected. I still think it was the best of the options we were facing. Gore was a once in a lifetime buffoon capable of displaying to the public how far out of balance our federal government along with the two political parties populating it at that time had become to mainstream America. Real change, led by true conservatives would be the net result.

This election does not afford us such an opportunity. We have NO choice, be it one forced upon us or not. Obama must be defeated or the cause itself is over and done with. This nation, as constituted, cannot survive his re-election.period.

I hate Romney and how the GOP establishment has manipulated the primaries time after time to ensure his type get the nomination. I told this forum many years ago that to get rid of the Democrats, we must first get rid of their bodyguards, the Republicans. In many ways this is still true. The problem this election cycle is that if we don't get rid of Obama, there might never be a chance to enact the changes we wish to enact. Socialism is FAILING right before everyone's eyes all over this nation as one city after another declares bankruptcy. There will be a response to this. Our time is coming. We can't afford to stop the clock now.
