Liberals don't want to jinx it. It terrifies the right. And the press would prefer a nail-biter. But the fact is that finding Romney's path to victory is getting harder every day.
There's a secret lurking behind everything you're reading about the upcoming election, a secret that all political insiders know—or should—but few are talking about, most likely because it takes the drama out of the whole business. The secret is the electoral college, and the fact is that the more you look at it, the more you come to conclude that Mitt Romney has to draw an inside straight like you've never ever seen in a movie to win this thing. This is especially true now that it seems as if Pennsylvania isn't really up for grabs. Romney's paths to 270 are few.

Two UCLA economists say they have figured out why the Great Depression dragged on for almost 15 years, and they blame a suspect previously thought to be beyond reproach: President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
After scrutinizing Roosevelt’s record for four years, Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian conclude in a new study that New Deal policies signed into law 71 years ago thwarted economic recovery for seven long years.
“Why the Great Depression lasted so long has always been a great mystery, and because we never really knew the reason, we have always worried whether we would have another 10- to 15-year economic slump,” said Ohanian, vice chair of UCLA’s Department of Economics. “We found that a relapse isn’t likely unless lawmakers gum up a recovery with ill-conceived stimulus policies.”
“The fact that the Depression dragged on for years convinced generations of economists and policy-makers that capitalism could not be trusted to recover from depressions and that significant government intervention was required to achieve good outcomes,” Cole said. “Ironically, our work shows that the recovery would have been very rapid had the government not intervened.”

I gave up on Bush, too, to the point where I left the party in 2007. However, Bush tried at least 18 times during his two terms to get the attention of the Congress to reform those two entities.
Barney Frank, et al said that they were doing a good job! Right up until six weeks before the housing collapse, and less than three months before the election.

If Romney were someone I trusted with the future of America, I would vote for him. Nothing in his past makes me think that his promises would last longer than it takes to get him elected.
Your absolutely right! Not what does that do with delivering us out of Socialism and sure ruin? Both parties are at fault, Congress more so with their antics (again both parties) so what are we going to do? Sit back and let nature take it’s course - most corrupt wins, or fight back!

I trust NO ONE with the future of America and no President should expect that! We are now trying to prevent America from becoming Greece - that is a big difference at this point in America’s future. You can participate or stand by and watch it happen. Seems that way too many are willing to be bystanders these days!

D1, I have a great deal of respect for you, but it’s hard to have a debate with you.
I told you that I gave up on Bush a long time ago, and I gave up on Congress, too.
He wasn’t outspoken enough.
I get that.
However, as I said upthread, it’s going to take several election cycles to get more fiscal conservatives into office...enough to have a real effect on the goings on in Congress.
It’s not going to happen this time. All we can do is vote in a way to mitigate the problems we are facing until we finally get TEA party types in the majority.

Anyone who doesn’t see the clear and distinct difference between Obama and Romney is living in an alternate universe. At present, Obama is slowly dismantling our country. If he is reelected, he will have no restraints on what he can and will do. There won’t be a Conservative at some future date. What was a great country will be gone, and there will be no way to get it back.
