On two recent occasions, Hugo Chavez, Venezuelas populist authoritarian president, expressed warm support for President Obama. In Chavezs book, the President is the good guy among American political figures in what he calls the empire.
This was the dubious sort of offhand endorsement from a schizophrenic tyrant that even the White House and its political spin masters most likely found awkward.
On the presidential campaign trail last weekend, Chavez returned to the subject of U.S. politics when he compared his young opposition rival, Henrique Capriles, to U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, saying they represent the callously selfish capitalist elite. Chavez also blasted Romney for being a representative of the extreme right-wing agenda that borders on fascism.
Like the American President, Chavez is running on his record but knows he must address unmet promises and troublesome realities. Crime, high inflation, unemployment, food shortages, rampant corruption, a steady crackdown on individual rights, and the crumbling of the rule of law stand as obstacles in his bid for another six years as Venezuelas el commandante-in-chief. So, too, does continued uncertainty about the state of Chavezs health.
Now that Chavez has so openly expressed his views on the U.S. presidential race and indicated his favorite, wouldnt it be a grand idea for the White House to take off the velvet gloves of diplomacy and strike back?
Now would be an excellent time for the leader of the worlds greatest democracy to state clearly that on October 7, the people of Venezuela have a clear choice. They must choose between an opposition candidate who can, with the support of the Venezuelan people, turn the country back onto a democratic track and begin repairing the damage done by the Bolivarian Revolution and socialism of the 21st century and an incumbent clinging to power who is antithetical to the U.S. and its interests and will lead his nation further toward the authoritarian abyss.
I was waiting for Hugo Chavez’s guidance before making up my mind. /s
Imagine that!
birds of a feather stick together!!
Old Hugo has asked that his coffin be packed with ice because it gets hot where he’s going.
Obama has secured solid communist support both domestically and worldwide...
Hugo is angling to be the first guest on Baraq’s PMSNBC nightly show starting Jan 21, 2013.
well, maybe you can work for him next year, Obama.
Will wonders never cease!! Imagine Hugo Chavez, Venezuelas Marxist populist authoritarian president, endorsing America’s Marxist populist authoritarian president.
All the patients in the psych ward have endorsed Obama, too. Of course, they think he’s a breakfast cereal, but that’s actually one of the better reasons I’ve heard for voting for him.
He’s got Chavez AND Amadinajad (sp), how can he lose?
LOL.....who’s next? The Castros? FarraCon-Man? The transvestite lobby?

Now, if I was Mitt, I would show Chavez saying anti-American statements, then this endorsement and say: 'Do you want a PRESIDENT who is endorsed by this man?'
I'm ExCTCitizen and I approve this ad for Mitt.
WOW what an endorsement..a Communist thug endorsing a Communist thug..somewhere Obama is shedding a tear saying “I feel so honored.”
Wow! This comes from an insignificant little PR!@& who wants a whole Country bending to His whim!
Next week I hear Obama will get Joseph Stalin’s endorsement, while the following week Idi Amin Da-Da will offer his
4) Has close ties to Wall St.
Although Obama claims to support the Occupy Wall St. movement, the truth is that he has raised more money from Wall St. than any other candidate during the last 20 years. In early 2012, Obama held a fundraiser where Wall St. investment bankers and hedge fund managers each paid $35,800 to attend. In October 2011, Obama hired Broderick Johnson, a longtime Wall Street lobbyist, to be his new senior campaign adviser. Johnson had worked as a lobbyist for JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Fannie Mae, Comcast, Microsoft, and the oil industry.
6) Supported the $700 billion TARP corporate-welfare bailout
While Senator, Obama voted for the $700 billion TARP bank bailout bill.
