After all the shouting, tweeting and protesting is over, the fried-chicken empire of Chick-fil-A will be just fine. Sales at the company, which recently leapt into the debate over gay marriage, may even get a lift in the near term.

“a business that has misjudged its bigger audience. “
Pray tell who, exactly, is this “bigger audience”?
The "public" has voted down gay "marriage" every single time it's been put to a vote.
The scoreboard is something like 37-zip.
Since the author of this piece, John Bussey, writes from Washington DC, he thinks that's "controversial."
Beats me. I thought they where judging their audience just fine.
The 1%er’s (the gay/lesbo/libs) that won’t eat there probably wouldn’t have before the flap anyways.
Written by a moron.
Chick will see a large surge in consumers in the short term, and a small surge in the long term. There is a large enough percentage of people who’ve never been to a Chick-Fil-A who will patronize them from here on to overshadow the loss of consumers engaged in a permanent boycott. It’s a win/win for Chick.
Friend told me today, she went there and tried to eat. The wait in line was an hour and a half. The parking lot was full, they had cops directing traffic. And this was in Indiana.
I had never heard of this franchise. If I ever encounter one in my travels though, I will immediately stop and buy a chicken sandwich with waffle fries.
Dream on. Chic Fil A appealed to the majority. This issue is a financial gold mine!
Gee, does anyone think the homosexual kiss in ( which will gross out any normal person who may wonder in and make them a new Chic Fil A traditional marriage supporter) is going to be anywhere near as massive?
The freaks will assemble, and the normal people will be laughing their butts off at the kinky freak show. It'll be like the Jerry Springer show - Live. Every kind of weirdo will be there.
The homos think people go to see their parades to support them. They have no idea people go because the freak show is free. Circuses used to make people pay for that stuff.
Can I make an observation, about this article in particular and media coverage in general?
Chick Fill A did not leap into the gay marriage controversy. They did not seek this out. Their owners are devout Christians. One of those owners gave an interview with a Baptist magazine. Somehow this interview made its way into the MSM, where the liberals went into their outrage routine. The owners did not launch a campaign against same-sex marriage.
The point is, the liberals picked this fight with Chick Fill A. Don’t you see what is happening? The liberals decided to pick this fight, to damage this company, and to teach a lesson to others, as to what would happen to them if they get on the wrong side of the liberal homosexual mafia.
Over at the dumpster they are all echoing each other that in the long run, they will lose out.
Conveniently glossing over the fact that homo marriage has been defeated everywhere it has come up for a vote.
They got the orders to climb Mount Nikita and now, like Yamamoto supposedly said, “they have awoken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.”
Having homo marriage become part of the rat platform is just gravy.
He wasn't telling the 'public', he was being interviewed by a Baptist newspaper.
A member of the gaystopo saw it, and now they won't rest until the man is prosecuted for his personal beliefs.
It's just the way they are.
I’d take the WSJ seriously if they would have been right about anything in the last ten years. Seems they are little more than NY Times knockoff.
And Chic Fil A was well rewarded for speaking up. Their honesty was nothing short of blessed.
This should embolden any company that wants to side with the majority. It's one of the best advertising campaigns "never created" by a companies PR department.
Also, Rahm, everyone knows that Chicago values refers to city officials demanding bribes to do their jobs and gunfights in the streets like some third-world city.
“For the average consumer, let alone the average Chick-fil-A consumer, this kind of thing goes right over their heads.”
Guess he didn’t see the pictures of how heavily patronized CFA was all across the country. What a clueless and condescending comment. Compare contrast- CFA/ JCPenny stock drop.
What color is the sky on this guy’s planet? He must have missed yesterday’s big show of support, which, along with everything else, probably brought in new customers who hadn’t tried it before and just did so to show support for the 1st Ad or the owner’s principles, and may come back in the future. It’s hard to buy advertising this good.
Yeah, that is usually leftist, suck up to the intellectual elite, lame stream newspapers with "the customer is always wrong" attitude, and cratering circulation numbers, that do this.
