I was a student in the Detroit system, with an A-E grading scale. The first time I heard someone say their grading scale was A B C D F, I thought that was nonsensical, as if they didn’t know the alphabet! I realize F could stand for fail, but the other letters grades are not alliterative, so why should the “F” be?

When I went to school in New Zealand we had A-E in hiogh school but the elementry school was 1=5

The way they graded was the top 2 got A the bottom 2 got E

A certain % after the top got B and the bottom got D

The squishy miggle got C

So it would go some thing like

50 students (Yes and only 1 teacher)

Top 2 A

next 20% or 10 B

Middle or 26 C

next 20% or 10 D

Bottom 2 E
