Support For Gay Marriage Rises Across All Age, Race, Political Groups

Support for same-sex marriage has risen across the board in the last four years, new polling data shows, signalling a shift in the overall political and social views of Americans.

The new data, released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, shows a higher percentage of Democrats, Republicans, whites, minorities and people of all generations support same-sex marriage legalization....

Among voting groups, there has been an increase in support for same-sex marriage even among Republicans. Since 2008, Democrats have jumped in support from 50 to 65 percent; Republicans from 19 to 24 percent; and Independents from 44 to 51 percent....

The Pew data supports other recent polls showing acceptance of gay rights is becoming the new norm for Americans. A May Gallup poll showed a majority of Americans polled consider gay or lesbian relations morally acceptable.

The poll showed 63 percent of Americans believe gay relations writ large should be legal, with non-religious Americans, women, youth and Democrats more supportive of gay rights.

Government policy has also been shifting in favor of this new norm. This year not only saw the president's public announcement in support of gay marriage, but also the repeal of Don't' Ask, Don't Tell, leading to more open acceptance -- and even praise -- for gays, lesbians and bisexuals serving in the armed forces.

“They polled a total of 25 people...”

That’s actually a mistranslation. What was actually said was that denizens of 25 gay bars had been interviewed.

It was real hard to make out the words through all the lisping of the reporter.

the problem for the left, occupy, homosexuals is that they go tot heir wesites, to their groups and tell each other how smart they are , how they’re in the majority but fail to see the facts.
All of my young children bring their pals over to my house and not one of them supports the homo agenda and they do think it is sick and many are not even religious.

Homosexuals or left wing nutty trolls wiht no life can come on these sites all day long but they need to ask themselves this, what exactly am I doing here as I will not change anyones mind.?

More and more people are getting fed up with thier baby tantrums and all because they like to wear a strap on or inser their penis into a crap hole and because of that they have a parade, say they’re proud, WTH is that about anyway.?

More and more the homosexuals are pissing more and more people off with their NAZI like tactics

I stand corrected. The truth of your observations is why there are no gay characters on TV and those show that try to introduce such characters fail miserably. There are no openly gay people in the US and anyone who is found out to be gay is run out of town, loses their job, family and friends. There is no Log Cabin Republicans who have challenged laws protecting traditional values in court and they have not recruited GOP legal heavy hitter Ted Olson to argue their case. None of these things is true.

So, I see you have adopted sarcastic concern trolling.

I take it your stance is that "nobody else seems to mind, so we should be okay with it"? This is the mindset that has been man's undoing ever since the Garden of Eden. Conservatives concern themselves with RIGHT and WRONG, it's the left that governs by polling data.

No, my argument is that this horse is out of the barn. I can’t believe that I’m getting so much grief for this observation. I am old enough to have seen the tremendous shift. The same thing has taken place with other forms of social decay in my lifetime. I remember when divorce was scandalous. I remember when a person could do prison time for posession of marijuana, and I remember when homosexuals were whispered about. None of these things are taboo in Maerican society now. A lot has changed but if you think that pretending it hasn’t is the way to go, sure thing.

No, my argument is that this horse is out of the barn.

That's the argument the left ALWAYS uses to justify things.

Slavery was "out of the barn," should we have ignored that?

What about abortion, is that also "out of the barn"?

I can’t believe that I’m getting so much grief for this observation.

Why? This is a CONSERVATIVE forum, we oppose the homosexual agenda.

The same thing has taken place with other forms of social decay in my lifetime. I remember when divorce was scandalous. Got it, your belief is that once something is "out of the barn" we should just surrender and go sing "Kumbaya" with the left.

I said it once, I’ll say it again:

You sound like a homo apologist. I don’t give a damn what your posting history looks like around here. If you’re accepting of the gay agenda, you need to fry.

I expect the rise in support is directly proportionate to the decrease in church attendance. Knowledge of, and belief in, the Bible as God’s Word is a scarcity in today’s society.

“Wonder if they sampled Democrats over any other political group.”

Most likely they did. When my husband, a Physicist, saw the latest Pew Research poll showing a “10%” advantage to Obama, he crunched the numbers. They’d sampled a 77% greater number of Democrats than Republicans.

He called Pew and spoke with “Molly Rohal.” Molly said it was a “valid representation” and “not biased”.

How stupid does a person have to be to look at that 77% statistic and interpret it as 50%? Pretty darn stupid.
