The Dept of Energy was forced to cut budgets at all of their sites. My brother was working for a contractor at Oak Ridge (trying to win new work) up until this spring when he was layed-off. The cutbacks at Oak Ridge he said were directly due to the DoE having to absorb the costs of Solyndra, etc, out of their operating budget.
I wonder if DoE at Oak Ridge had cut back on security as well?

I tell folks that most of us have absolutely no idea how damaging a bad administration (Carter, Clinton, 0bama) really is ... most of the damage is hidden. Like this.

I think the budget cuts have more to do with stimulus funds running out. ARRA has pumped billions into DOE. That’s the problem with jobs from government ‘stiumulus.’ The only way to keep them is to keep pumping the money into them, since they don’t generate any actual wealth.
