Chick-fil-A faces long lines, protests
Politico ^ | August 1, 2012 | Tomer Ovadia

Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country on Wednesday faced long lines of customers and packs of protesters — all of them responding, in one way or another, to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s call for an “appreciation day” for the chicken chain that opposes same-sex marriage.

More than 630,000 Facebook users have RSVP’d on Huckabee’s event page, where he writes about being “incensed at the vitriolic assaults” on the company ever since CEO Dan Cathy told Baptist Press that Chick-fil-A is “guilty as charged” in support of “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

******

The opposition to Chick-fil-A — waged recently by politicians including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, both of whom said the chain is no longer welcome in their respective cities — also made their voices heard on Wednesday. The Human Rights Campaign started a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #ChickfilHATE, and PETA had planned a noon protest outside a Chick-fil-A on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, other same-sex marriage supporters have responded to Huckabee’s appreciation day with “National Same Sex Kissing Day,” urging people on Facebook to “grab a buddy and head on out to your local Chick Fil A” this Friday. The group page has less than 2,000 members. (A “Boycott Chick-fil-A” page has more than 12,000 likes.)

Politico's headline makes it sound as if (1) 630,000 and 2,000 are more-or-less similar numbers and (2) long lines waiting to patronize a business are as bad as protestors outside the place.

Politico is a coven of Hillary hacks. It’s a Democrat mouthpiece that will never admit that Christians can be good citizens of this country.

That’s right. Chick fil a did not face “protests.” It did a huge amount of business and some gay rights activists attempted to put together some protests that turned out to be pathetic. That’s the real story of Politico was being fair and balanced rather than some Leftwing rag with an agenda.

No surprise there.

You can pretty much bet Friday’s national MSM news will be nonstop coverage of folks having a gay old time @ CFA.

I am heartened that our LOCAL tv stations here in Indy have given today’s overwhelming support lots of coverage.

“”packs of protesters””?

Politico is writing fiction. I have read the FR after action reports and no one is mentioning protesters.

Sorry Politico I not buying your story-—

The MSM ignored the TEA Party rally on the Washington Mall back in 2010. They ignored the 65,000 at the Glen Beck event in Dallas.

They are a joke. Most people learn fairly early in life that kidding yourself is not a winning strategy.

Then there are those who double down on kidding themselves. They go on to become “liberals.”

Conservatives should stage a repeat on Friday (the “gay kiss-in” day). If the gay activists see a big crowd of presumably-conservative CFA fans, they are less likely to push their luck.

Was just about to post the same thing. Read the headline carefully, it sounds like Chick-Fil-A is facing an existential crisis.

Protesters? Prove it, Politico.

Asians, Blacks, Whites, Latinos and everything in between of all beliefs - all enjoying their 1st amendment freedoms... THAT'S what scares the H311 out of you.

I have seen one report of a protester: someone called in a bomb threat to a packed out CFA.

The Plantation/Davie FL Chick-fil-A had a long lunch time line of vehicles wrapping aound the corner actually causing a a slowdown of the traffic entering the Tower Shops and Costco from University Drive. A possible indication the regular folks are waking up to the fact that if they don’t stand up to the bullying there isn’t going be anything left of our freedoms. Eat more chikin!

The bottom line is that Chick Fil A has taken the high road and stayed there.

The people are trying to say something. Sure wish the politicians would wake up.

There is no such thing as gay marriage.

There is no such thing as 2 mommies or two daddies.

Why is the governmetn not protecting me, my children and my grandchildren from these perverts.

We staged a rally this morning at the Northridge CA "Chick-fil-A." My sign below. I point out that Free Speech is a right -- and the Right to boycott, shop elsewhere is your economic freedom as well. Many news media outlets were there. They interviewed us. We emphasized free speech, Chicago's move to perhaps pull licenses from Chick-fil-A restaurants - that move was Anti-free speech and Anti-free private enterprise. Our Rights include the right to have 'annoying' opinions and to be 'annoying' business owners, as long as these activities are voluntary and peaceful. Shop there, don't shop there - it's your choice. It's called the 13th Amendment: you are FREE to start your own individual business, express your views, lose money if people don't like it. FREE enterprise. All in all it was a fruitful event, I think the media "got it" (the philosophy behind our rights to free speech, economic freedom & free enterprise).

Yes there ARE protests... Protests of the gay agenda aggressively presenting itself in every part of our lives like an invasive species... Protests of those who oppose free speech (except for their interests)... Protests of those who are anti-family, anti-morality, and anti-American. THESE are what the 600,000+ are protesting!

The lines at the south bay CFA were at least a half mile down Hawthorne Blvd just to get into the parking lot in a heavily minority neighborhood. There were no protesters in sight. None. Just a lot of happy customers and happy employees.

Just back from MacArthur/635 location, 415 PM entry, so way early on the dinner crowd. Still, both lines wound around with cars, people parking in the adjacent lot to go inside.

30 or more eating inside. Gee, any so polite both customers and employees. Nothing like we see on leftist-type days, is it?

Oh, and the customers were a pretty “diverse” bunch too.

And not one “protester” Cowards don’t show up on days like this. I’ll be back on Friday to mock any “protesting” pervs that might be dumb enough to show up
