Chick-fil-A faces long lines, protests

Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country on Wednesday faced long lines of customers and packs of protesters — all of them responding, in one way or another, to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s call for an “appreciation day” for the chicken chain that opposes same-sex marriage.

More than 630,000 Facebook users have RSVP’d on Huckabee’s event page, where he writes about being “incensed at the vitriolic assaults” on the company ever since CEO Dan Cathy told Baptist Press that Chick-fil-A is “guilty as charged” in support of “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

The opposition to Chick-fil-A — waged recently by politicians including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, both of whom said the chain is no longer welcome in their respective cities — also made their voices heard on Wednesday. The Human Rights Campaign started a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #ChickfilHATE, and PETA had planned a noon protest outside a Chick-fil-A on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, other same-sex marriage supporters have responded to Huckabee’s appreciation day with “National Same Sex Kissing Day,” urging people on Facebook to “grab a buddy and head on out to your local Chick Fil A” this Friday. The group page has less than 2,000 members. (A “Boycott Chick-fil-A” page has more than 12,000 likes.)

The only people with signs at our CFA were touting the Republican nominee for the House.

Good old Politico. Firmly in the bag for the left, wants to spin this as 'protests AGAINST' Chik-Fil-A.

What a bunch of seethrough scumbags.

I laugh in their faces.

Let the media putting same sex couples kissing and making out on TV because this is really going to turn off most people and if the democrats and the liberal media align themselves with it, it is just going to damage them to many people even some democrats.

If Chick-a-fill manages to double their throughput after this venture into politics (which is very likely). They should then look into their next venture - perhaps saying that Illegal Aliens are ILLEGAL!!!

Now that would REALLY rock the Dems - they’ll spend weeks just trying to figure out how to respond.

I think the media are (intentionally) missing a subtle but important point: the huge turnouts at Chick-Fil-A's across the country are themselves "protests." They're conservatives protesting the unconscionable bullying this chain has experienced since the CEO's announcement. But more than that, they're protesting the harassment, intimidation, lies, and perversion to which they've been subjected for years.

I've often said that the liberals will rue the day they awaken the sleeping Middle Class giant. It appears that they've played "chicken" once too often.

I was at the Burlington Mall today in the bluest of blue states, Massachusetts, and this is what I saw:

I estimated 200-300 people around noon. Another Freeper said it was closer to 400-500 around 1 PM. Made me feel like it isn't a lost cause here!

I guess they regard the extra customers who otherwise might not have been there as protesters. Hey, they're right- I went out of my way to eat there twice this week, to protest the homosexual Nazis.

Homosexual, because there's nothing GAY about it!

We went to Chik-fila today for brunch. I saw no signs posted in the place reading “Homosexuals Not Welcome”, nor did I see “We reserve the right to refuse to serve homosexuals” signs. - These people just want DRAMA and to be a part of what they perceive to be history. - They’re welcome to come eat lunch at Chik, just like the rest of us are. Mr. Cathy just donates to children’s homes instead of LGBT organizations. - They’re welcome to frequent and support the places that donate to LGBT causes. I try to live and let live; so should the LGBT crowd.

Yeah, there were tons of people, but I didn't see any protestors.
