A observant Jew will not eat pork, (or shrimp or rabbit or dogs or eel.. etc.) but they don't have the freak out over pigs that Muslims have.

In fact it is lawful for a Jew to have a pet pig just as it is lawful for a Jew to have a pet dog. It isn't usual but then pigs as pets are not common among non-Jews either

In light of the above, while swine might make for wonderful and intelligent pets, they are just not a Jewish kind of pet.

And of course, as on so many topics of this sort, observant Jews are varying degrees of orthodoxy may vary in their approach (just as observant Jews may have different opinions regarding the use of kosher soap.). I still maintain that it is exceptionally unlikely for a Jew to befriend a pig, and he would be most displeased to have one in his pool.
