Romney: Media trying to 'divert' from real issues with focus on foreign gaffes
Fox News ^ | July 31, 2012

Mitt Romney, in an interview with Fox News, accused the media of attempting to "divert" attention from more substantive issues by harping on his so-called gaffes overseas.

"I realize that there will be some that in the fourth estate ... who are far more interested in finding something to write about that is unrelated to the economy, to geo-politics, to the threat of war, to the reality of conflict in Afghanistan today, to nuclearization of Iran," Romney told Fox News' Carl Cameron, after wrapping up his final event in Warsaw, Poland.

Don’t fall for their traps.

Some here may want Romney to spend 10 million dollars on ads talking about Obama’s college records, but it isnt going to move the needle and only serves as a distraction that Obama wants.

Obama made that mistake with the “you didn’t build that” speech. He kept talking about it, even sold some BS about going “nuclear”. All he did was pump new life into it and made it a meme that now will run all the way until November.

Everything they tossed at Romney died off in 3 days at most because he keeps on-message.

Oh the irony. We have a presumed Presidential candidate who just tells the plain truth and the lamestreams consider it gaffes.

Does anyone disagree with any of Romney’s “gaffes”?

I like the way Romney calmly but accurately outs the medias attempts to focus on totally inconsequential, alleged ‘gaffes’ by Romney that have no relevance to the voters because they don’t want to have to focus on the substantive issues where Obama has failed, big-time. Obama is highly vulnerable and his media sycophants know it. Better yet, a majority of Americans know it. Romney just has to keep his message on the real issues and not allow the media to throw him off-course with lame allegations and such. If nothing else, Romney is disciplined and knows what he has to do. In his case, basically ignore the media and their games and speak directly to the people, via speeches and ads.

Excellent comment. Must be true because I agree with every word. ;-)

What gaffes? He didn’t make any gaffes. If anyone made a gaffe it’s that idiot mayor of London and the lamestream media.

Your post makes no sense. Romney's complaint is they're ignoring Obama's economic record, Obama's foreign policy problems.

You say the press isn't focused on Romney when this piece shows they are.

No, no sense at all. Your hatred for Romney has given leave to powers of reason.

Nothing I saw quoted from Romney in Europe was a gaffe, though NPR labelled much of it as such.

Worse, candidate Obama said the same thing about Jerusalem while visiting Israel for the last time in 2008. Is that mentioned or was it reported as a gaffe?

I'll let you guess.

What “gaffes”? He was saying things that he should have said, and what he said was very appreciated.

He told Israel that the US was again going to be their friend, in the face of unthinking, violent Islamism. He said the capital of Israel is Jerusalem, which it is, and recognizes that foreign claims on Israel or parts thereof are illegitimate. The Israelis, our allies, loved it.

The he told Poland that the US was again going to be their friend, in the face of their natural enemy, the increasingly aggressive and authoritarian Russia. And the Poles loved it as well, even if the media didn’t, and had to be chastised by his press secretary for being obnoxious at a Polish “Holy site”.

And yet the Gaffe-o-matic, Barack Hussein Obama, can’t even breathe without screwing it up and the Fifth Column ignores it.
