David Maraniss, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Barack Obama: The Story, is getting testy. And it is not hard to understand why. The Washington Post diva spent the last four years on his career book, released it in the heart of a heated re-election season, got the kind of exposure a Kardashian would envy, and now finds the book heading for the remainder racks weeks after its release. Oy vey!
As of this writing, the book ranks 1,696 on Amazon's bestseller list. By contrast, Edward Klein's unfriendly Obama tome, The Amateur, has outsold just every book this summer not centered on female bondage, spent weeks on top of New York Times top-ten list, and now ranks 55 on Amazon despite being out a month longer than The Story.
Rather than assess why his book tanked -- it is too honest for the left and too dishonest for the right -- Maraniss has turned his wrath on the people he seems to hold responsible for the book's failure -- namely, "obsessed conspiratorialists" like me. His pique has found its outlet in a mean-spirited Washington Post op-ed, a minor classic of journalistic myopia. Allow me to address its concerns.
The notion that the president was not born in the United States remains at the epicenter of the anti-Obama mythology.
The fact that Obama sold America a fictional story of his first few years makes his birth a valid subject of interest. That much said, no one at Joseph Farah's WND, the online publication that has driven the "birther" controversy, has ever claimed that Obama was born in Kenya or any other foreign country. Farah and others, myself included, have simply wanted to see the birth certificate and clear up the mystery that shrouds Obama's birth. The most prominent birther, of course, remains Barack...

Marannis is an egotistical martinet. He’s a legend in his own mind.
If you read the books by the Kleins, Corsi, and others, you will find out about the real Obama, a marxist narcisstic buffoon who hates America, esp. white Americans, and covertly likes Islam.
Marannis likes to leave out information that doesn’t confirm to his liberal/leftist mindset.
I fully intend to read his book because I try to read as much material on a subject as I can (and afford). However, I’ve been involved in exposing Obama as a marxist since 2008 (when I was invited into the research effort), and I can find nothing in the documentation available to disprove that he is anything but a Hugo Chavez wannabe marxist authoritarian, superegotist.
In listening to the Maraniss interview on C-SPAN this weekend there were many times he showed his bias. Such as saying Obamas parents met at a Russian class because it was all the rage in 1960 for people to learn Russian. Maybe Barack Sr. and Stanley Ann wanted to learn Russian so they could be better communists.
Maraniss tried to make Obama look as good as possible during the interview.
Wow!!!!!!!
I was mildly interested until it was revealed that Maraniss ‘doctored’ some of 0bama’s writings to make him appear more literate than he was. Guess I’ll stick with ‘The Amateur’.
No maybe's about it. Our President is a Red Diaper Baby!
The original sperm donor (if indeed he was the father) fled the scene in his quest to be a big fish in a little pond (Kenya) only to be replaced by Frank Marshall Davis, an American commie and libertine, who took over the tutelage of young Barry (and may have been the actual sperm donor there are some interesting photos on the net).
Ah yes, mon ami....his Kenyan grand mother says he, Obama, was born in Kenya.
I hope that butterdezillion comments on it here.
Certainly, it did not tank as much as CarvilleIdiot’s “40 More Years: How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation”...../s =.=
Check it out from the library. Why pay for it twice, especially given the recipient of the revenue?
F15Eagle, thank you for posting Dakkumen's review of David Maraniss, Barack Obama: The Story. At times the reviewer is almost Charles Laughton in "Witness for the Prosecution"--"Were you lying then, are you lying now, or are you not in fact a chronic and habitual liar!"
It appears as you subsequently note that Obama is a legend not a person.
Maraniss' use of the term "story" is apt--
It continually reminds me of Miriam F. retired from a life in the Foreign Service observing of lunch with the king of Nepal and his brother, "They tell you a beautiful story. It isn't the truth, but it is a beautiful story."
Sherlock Holmes remarks to Watson in The Adventure of the Three Garridebs regarding the recently departed visitor with the fabulous story, "Touch him where we will he is false."
So it is with the performer formerly known as Barry Soetoro who dons more faces than Lon Chaney for the additional four years he needs to terminate America.

Yet this gentile little couple takes their only child Ann to the only communist school in the US on Mercer Island, Washington.
Off to Hawaii, where things get a little confused for me
Its the most expensive place in America to live.
The Durhams meet Obama sr and Frank Marshall Davis and pimp their daughter off and like any typical Muslim her life is over as far we know.
Marries another Muslim and moves the Sorento family to Indonesia as change Obama name to Barry Sorento and enroll him in a madrassas but we are told mistake it was a catholic school.
Gets a passport to Pakastan when Americans are not allowed there.
Too Many Gaps for poor David to be taken serious
Wow, that was plucked off of Amazon!
The more I hear about this person in the White House, the more sinister it sounds to me. It is incomprehensible to me that someone with such an unknown, checkered past has become President.
Just amazing.
“Just amazing”.
Yes it is. And it’s amazing that too many Americans didn’t care and don’t care, and that the media wasn’t even remotely curious about all the holes in his biography if for no better reason than that journalists are supposedly innately curious, cynical, and suspicious. But they were the exact opposite-complicit in covering for all the lapses in his “story”.
