Former Vice President Dick Cheney told ABCs Jonathan Karl Sunday that Senator John McCains decision to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008 was a mistake, and one that Mitt Romney cant repeat.
I like Governor Palin. Ive met her. I know her. She attractive candidate. But based on her background, shed only been governor for, what, two years. I dont think she passed that test of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake, Cheney explained.
But now, Liz Cheney who many respect as a conservative mind independent of her fathers former position has amicably announced that she disagrees with her fathers position.
Rarely do I disagree with best VP ever but @SarahPalinUSA more qualified than Obama and Biden combined. Huge respect 4 all shes done 4 GOP, Liz Cheney wrote.

My cat is more qualified and she’s pretty dumb even for a cat.
The media was so one sided on their coverage and research of Obama versus Palin that is was flat out disgusting. Palin was vetted and re-vetted and had every aspect of her life and history examined while Obama was given a pass on EVERYTHING.
This is telling when you consider that Palin was only the VP candidate.
The media in this country is our greatest and most immediate threat.

Dick Cheney’s dissing of Governor Palin was completely gratuitous and unnecessary, and lowers my regard for him even further. However, this sort of nonsense has to be expected from old-line GOPers. I expect good ole boy Frank Murkowski was very much a Dick Cheney - George W. Bush type of Republican, and Palin ended his political career.
The same consideration is behind much of the establishment animus towards Palin. She aggressively went after corrupt pols on both sides of the aisle, and will likely do the same if she moves into the White House. Establishment pubbies will do everything they can to see that that never happens.
I love her. But part of the problem with her campaign from jump was her daughter. I would never have offered the vp slot to a person with that situation, and if I had that situation, I would never, never have accepted the offer. You know the left is going to come after you like the Stasi, and if the ex-wife of a third cousin you’ve never met ran a red light or said something obnoxious in 1972, they are going to use it against you - how much more if you have a pregnant unwed teen daughter. I still don’t understand how she could do that to her parents, and how they didn’t have enough authority with her to make her get married once she informed them about the pregnancy. Just on a pragmatic level, you can’t have any situation that can be used to clobber you, that can take attention away from your campaign and your message.
Bingo.
Palin is just about the only person, who can re-integrate the GOP.
Seriously. As an added benefit, she also improves the defensive aspect, against a possible late-term Hillary jump-in.
Which I unfortunately still see as likely.
Do you realize this is the exact argument that was made for Bush in 2000 and 2004?
Why do you think my radar is triggered by someone who could back McCain for re-election, and intimate they are for another ‘not an amnesty’ amnesty?
She has vindicated your thoughts about her? How did she do that, saying nice things you wanted to hear. Romney is doing that right now. I don’t trust him one bit.
That’s not to infer she’s as bad as Romney, because I don’t think she is.
Rabscuttle posted this cartoon on 11/19/2009. I responded on 11/20/2009 by saing, "LOL amen..." This is your evidence that I was anti Palin?
This is a cartoon that Lampoons McCain for coming hat in hand to Conservatives, begging for forgiveness. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Palin.
It was funny then, and it's funny today. It's exactly what McCain does every six years. He goes home to Arizona and claims to be Conservative's best friend. Then he goes back to Washington and stabs Conservatives in the back time after time after time. And he cozies up to Soros, Kennedy, ot the Kerrys, the Tides Foundation, Feingold et al...
As for Palin, I was happy she was picked. I thought she would bring Conservatism to the picture. She did. She was the only reason McCain come up with more than 30% of the vote IMO. I said so at the time.
In early 2009, McCain's campaign staff started to trash Palin. McCain remained mute. In an interview McCain refused to say he would back her for the presidency. He didn't bother to add that she would make a fine one. He just cut her loose.
Then in early 2010, Palin endorsed McCain for re-election. Shortly after that I heard a radio interview from what I recall now, the central valley region of California. In that interview she stated that she wanted to register illegal immigrants so they could stay here and work. Then she had the gall to appear before the Tea Party and tell them McCain was one with them. I'm not sure exactly what the Tea Party is, but one thing I am certain of. It isn't palls with the likes of Soros, the Kerrys, Kennedy, Feingold, the Tides Foundation et al...
Another thing bothered me about Sarah. When McCain refused to trash his campaign staff for belittling her, and he refused to make a nice comment about her when asked if he would support her for president, it was abusive. None the less, Sarah backed him in his candidacy a year later. That came way to close to battered wife syndrome for me. I didn't like what had taken place, and I wanted her to remind him of it, when she refused to back him for return to Washington. Instead she went right out and backed him. That really didn't show me much.
I have been frank about what my thoughts about Sarah were. That's what a Conservative is supposed to do.
I was friends with Rabscuttle. I wish he was back here now. I don't have a problem with someone taking someone to task for pretending to be someone they are not. And if Palin is going to back McCain, tell the Tea Party members he's one with them, and then signal she's giving illegal immigrants a 'pathway', she's not the Conservative people think her to be.
Rabscuttle tried to wake folks up to that fact. Good for him.
Feeling a little defensive, eh?
I am quite often amused by the responses I get here on the forum. Yours was one such post.
You made a charge. I responded with what my actions have been with concern to Palin.
Then you respond by calling me defensive. Never-mind that I shot down your point.
I was not always anti-Palin as you sought to cast me as.
Deal with it.
Your posting history says otherwise.
And your hair is pink.
Yes, I was referring to 38 and 47 out of 50 questions. So my score was 76% and his was 94%. My guy is rather bright and a math genius who is also good at electronics. I am weak in those areas. I took the test at 2 in the morning, not my best time, but doubt it would have made more than 1 or 2 extra points. We are both retired so age may have been a factor in my score, but not his.
Pass this on, annoy and astound your friends. ;-)
What are your fields of endeavor? I would suspect that people could get some fairly handsome degrees and still not know the answers to most those questions. That’s why the test is fun, but not all that meaningful for me.
As for how many points it may have cost me, I would say two to four points. There are processes of elimination that I didn’t bother to use on some of the questions. If I were taking it mid-morning, I would have.
It was fun to participate and I appreciate the link.
Congrats on the scores. Take care.
I switched majors at the end of my Sophomore year in college when Sputnik flew from Spanish to General Science (not enough time left to specialize before graduation), so major in General Science with minors in Spanish and Education. Worked as a lab tech and then secretary in physiology, cardiovascular physiology, and pharmacology about 5 years, then moved on to other forms of endeavor.
All this was almost 50 years ago. However, I have continued to follow scientific topics with interest and enjoy the FR GGG and Catastrophism ping lists.
Very good. Thanks for the mention. Take care.
Made it to number sixteen and then it asked me to register. Gave up at that point. All in all, on the first sixteen questions, was average. Was surprised they wanted me to register ... LOL
