Yes, it turned out to be temporary because Mexican anti-communists ran them out of the country. Those Mexicans had no tolerance for “polygamous communes.” The Romneys and all of their “wives” were forced to flee to the United States. We’d be a lot better off if the Mexicans had just thrown the whole bunch of them into a Mexican prison.
You can speculate all you want, but we have no reason to think that George Romney and Mitt Romney would not have both run for president of the United States and live as they they did.
Willards grandfather only bought one of his wives with him when they entered the US illegally...
The rest stayed in Mexico...
Moderate/liberal George, Willies father was born in the commune in Mexico...
He ran for POTUS in 1964 and 1968
he was requoired to prove he was eligible and he couldnt...
He never tried again...
Conservative Barry Goldwater beat the pants off george at the convention..800 to 40...
George stomped out of the convention hall with young impressionable Willie in tow...and turned on Barry and his good friend Ronald Reagan and the Republicans and went and helped Johnson to win...
(Later Reagan spoke of the moderate traitors in the Party...meaning George Romney...)
That sword of defeat that got his father,,,has been hanging over Willard these 50 years since...
He is deathly afraid of a fight with the Conservatives at Tampa...
He thinks hes jinxed with his fathers fate...
He doesnt want any viable conservatives there who might challenge him...
He knows they would win...
If he wasnt afraid of Governor Sarah Palin she would be going as a speaker...
All he knows how to do is destroy his opponents...
He fights like Obama...
