Two State Police troopers implicated in escorting a caravan of luxury cars to Atlantic City at more than 100 mph will be criminally charged today, a lawyer for one of the men said Thursday.
In the face of the charges, the attorney said Sgt. 1st Class Nadir Nassry, 47, a 25-year veteran of the force, had submitted a request for retirement Thursday morning, a took "full responsibility" for the incident on the Garden State Parkway in March.
"I am aware of the negative image and difficulty this escort has caused the Division of State Police," Nassry wrote in a statement distributed by his attorney, Charles Sciarra, at a news conference. "I deeply regret that this matter has made an already difficult job even harder on my fellow troopers who work so diligently."
At the same time, he asked for leniency for the other trooper involved, Joseph Ventrella, 28.

The troopers were caught lying through their teeth and now face some jail time.
I'm a little surprised that it went this far. Rich athletes with expensive sports cars managed to get a NJ State Police escort to drive 150MPH? In the state where the last governor's SUV wrecked at 91 MPH with a NJ State Police driver? Corzine was MedEvaced to a trauma center and the State Police driver STILL retired with 50% pay and full benefits. I have minimal sympathy for the Troopers, but the response seems a bit harsher than what happened with Corzine. I know, "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
The only moral of this story is that it's a bad idea to embarrass the Fat Man during tryouts for the VP job.
Death Race 2012 ???? Wrong movie. Either journalists are young and ignorant, or they just have a a fixation with DEATH.
This incident was more like the CANNONBALL BAKER SEA TO SEA SHINING MEMORIAL TROPHY DASH. The movie was CANNONBALL RUN.
2. Christie is most likely angling for the U.S. Attorney General post.
3. These never would have been any disciplinary action taken in this incident were it not for the fact that some people in other cars on the Parkway that day had videos and posted them online.
4. It looks like these troopers would have faced nothing more than internal disciplinary charges if it were just about a high-speed escort on the Garden State Parkway. The criminal charges are for covering or altering the license plates of the state police vehicles while they were doing this.
There's a reason why even a half-@ssed government like the State of New Jersey feels a need to throw the book at these troopers. They are facing the prospect of dealing with a large (and growing) group of productive, responsible citizens who simply don't give a sh!t about obeying the law anymore, and maintaining credibility is starting to become the primary consideration in highly-publicized incidents like this.
“””In submitting his request to retire, Nassry said he intended to seek his pension.
“As my career has otherwise been described as exemplary, I dont believe this one time lapse should preclude me from being granted a long earned benefit,” he wrote.
Sciarra said that although he had not been told Nassry would lose his pension, he expected to “have this fight.” Pension decisions are made by the State Police Retirement Board, which is overseen by the state Treasurys Division of Pensions and Benefits.
State records show Nassry earned about $102,000 last year, not including overtime or other pay. After 25 years, a troopers pension is typically 65 percent of final salary plus one percent for each additional year up to 70 percent.”””
We should be even more concerned about these outrageous pension plans. Government is bankrupting the USA.
How many FReepers earning $100,000 per year are going to get $65,000 per year pension plus free healthcare most likely?

How many of them just wish they could earn $65000. even if they had to work 60 hours a week to do it?
