Dewhurst's internals must be pretty bad for the "coy" to risk angering conservatives and come out for Dewhurst.

Voted for Cruz. Time for Dewhurst to leave politics. But I bet his ego will require a run to succeed Rick Perry. Will be interesting to see if the RINOs try to undermine Cruz in the general election.

“Fighting for principle is not always easy and it is not always visible.”

For example, in the invisible land of Unicorns and rainbows, Dewhurst is known as a real conservative,

My sense (as a non-Texan, mind) is that Dewhurst probably came into office long ago with generally conservative views and still has many ... but that, over decades in public service and “logrolling,” he has become beholden to too many people and views to really support MAJOR changes in the very system that made him powerful.

Ted Cruz is younger, fresher and doesn’t owe any favors (except to all the RIGHT kinds of people, like Jim DeMint).

Cruz over Dewhurst is a huge opportunity for Texas conservatives.

I'm disappointed in Dan Patrick supporting Dewhurst. Dan Patrick is my state senator, and a true conservative. However, on his FB page he has been pushing negative Cruz items while saying he is staying out of the fray and just "informing the public." The voters have vehemently disagreed with that assessment.

I think Patrick just wants Dewhurst out of Austin, to make life easier on the state level to get things accomplished for conservatives, but he has not been honest about his subtle endorsements of Dewhurst.

I voted for Cruz today.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't your hero Rick Perry also endorse Dewhurst?

I cannot imagine going for the RINO for any reason.

I am not surprised about local Texas politicians endorsing Dewhursrt, I expect many of them have their nose on each other’s butts for some reason or another and there will be loyalty paybacks later in compensation. Dewhurst is still Lt. Governor, more powerful position than even the Governor, and he is wealthy. What is really disturbing is the outside endorsements of Dewhurst, especially the ones of late that came in after Dewhurst has exposed himself as such a slimeball by his dirty campaign. Very disappointing to see Huckabee, Michael Reagan, and now James Inhoffe endorse Dewhurst.

Oh, no! Susan Combs (!!) has endorsed Dewhurst! I guess that will erase any influence of the Palin endorsement for Cruz!

Susan Combs, who admitted she wanted to use tax policy to control my behavior as a consumer. She spearheaded sales tax for Amazon purchases by Texans, and said, “Think of your friend and neighbors who own businesses that need that level playing field!” I think I’ll pay the sales tax and tell my “friends and neighbors” who lobbied for me to pay more to pound sand. And I already voted for Cruz.

I already voted early for Cruz. I heard a radio commercial at noon from Nolan Ryan endorsing Dewhurst. And I went to a Ranger’s game last night...

Comptroller Susan Combs on Thursday added her name to the long list of Texas elected officials who are backing Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in his bid for the U.S. Senate.

Susan Combs is another one that can bite the jockey shorts. We need new blood with conservative ideals in Austin too.

(Art.) Dewhurst has been “relentless and focused on conservative principles,” said Combs....

Notice the order in which she seeded her adjectives.

"Relentless", and then "conservative". Hmmmm, wonder if she meant "ruthless"?

Sounds like Dewhurst is menacing the officeholders bigtime.

Dewhurst won the Jimmy Carter “co generation Lotto.”

He made a butt load of money on the backs of North Texas electric ratepayers.

He claims he earned it.

Rick Perry likes Dewhurst because he has lots of money.

Perry would like a rich rat turd.

For people not in the know, please read the following:

Dan Patrick (for whom the Tea Party was practically creates) has always been quite clear about things work in Austin. If you don’t suck-up to THE MAN, you get nowhere.

In Dan’s case, he has to suck up to the governor - which is why he was in New Hampshire last winter trying to help him in his bid for president (as if he had a prayer). Now he has to suck up to Dewhurst, who, almost certainly, will still be running the TEXAS Senate in January.

Patrick has made it more than clear what he thinks about Dewhurst (who is Governor Perry’s bitch in the State Senate for killing conservative legislation), and it’s NOT pretty. But Dan will have to deal with him in January, and hence the supposed endorsement*.

*but not a real endorsement, as it doesn’t even show up on Dewhurst’s website.

Dewhurst supporters are very very very touchy right now....every comment is deemed an attack or slight.

I smell fear.

Susan Combs is no surprise; she’s part of the good ol’ boy network in Austin. But, I’m really disappointed in Dan Patrick.
