As a conservative, it should infuriate that the U.N. feels it has the right to tamper with or even ‘suggest’ modifications to U.S. laws; especially rights granted through the Constitution. Why would anyone feel that foreigners should have a say in what happens here with U.S. citizens on our soil? The U.N. is out of control and is no longer inching toward a one-world governance, it’s sprinting toward it. Why help achieve the goal?

When we buy a car in Texas, it has to be compliant with the California Air Resources Board's emissions requirements. Why? Because it was too expensive to keep building California emissions cars and "other" versions. So they just do them all at the strict standard and bring the cost down. exactly as the CARB hoped.
So Fedex is an international company. If they want an easy time in international trade, then they have to comply with international regulators in Brussels and NYC. Do they want to threaten all their international business due to a charge of assisting interstate (or cross border illicit Texas traffickers) arms trades? No. They just politely refuse all gun shipments everywhere. Done deal.

Agree with you. IMO "inter alia" isn't specific enough to ensure the status quo, particularly in light of the left's tireless and relentless pursuit of the marxist agenda. Along with a national registry, this treaty could conceivably be used as cover and or justification by "progressives" to advance other "regulations" or even "executive orders" which could also negatively impact the 2nd Amendment.
sam - I’m not okay with this treaty - I vehemently oppose it. If given the chance, Barky will sign it, regardless of my opposition. The Senate will not ratify it. If it ever does get ratified, any parts that conflict with the Constitution are null and void, as the Constitution clearly states, and as SCOTUS has ruled on numerous occasions.
I also understand incrementalism, which works both ways. WRT FEDEX - feh, who cares? eBay used to allow gun stuff on their site. Then they didn’t, which spawned numerous gun-auction sites that are better than eBay ever was. If FEDEX says no to international shipments, many someones will take their place.

For those who don’t know, an AK47 is nothing more than a 30 caliber gun used in combat PRIMARILY because it is extremely durable. Any 30 caliber will hurt you. It’s a preferred caliber for a deer rifle. You can buy a Winchester, Marlin, Remington, etc., 30 caliber rifle. And some of them come with 6 round capacity with no clip necessary.
You say to yourself, yes but the AK has an auto setting. The truth is that we were taught in the army NOT to use that setting for the most part almost always. An infantry rifle is for aiming and inflicting damage on the enemy one target at a time.
A shooter in a theater spraying a whole clip in just seconds is actually less dangerous than the guy who aims and shoots one at a time.
So, like with the old M-1, you can bury an AK in the ground and dig it up later, do a bit of clean up and still have it fire. Durability is its hallmark. Lethality, of course, but you don’t want to get hit with a 30 caliber in any case.
I don’t bitch about federal judges - I work to get people elected who will appoint good ones. I also work to get people elected who will fix the regulatory process. Usually, these are the same people.

There’s nothing you or I can do about the UN and the treaties it comes up with. There’s nothing you or I can do to keep a massive mistake like Barky from signing them. Your comments seem very fatalistic - once he signs them, it’s over. I’m not a fatalist - I don’t believe that.

If you look at my comments prior, you will note that I said "very difficult" I did not say "impossible." I think you know by now that I've been very serious about fixing this mess for a long time. I haven't been sitting on my butt crying 'it's all over,' but doing the ground work to undo the system, sometimes months at a time on my hands and knees if that is what it takes. I would simply prefer that people not underestimate the perils they face and act to preclude them. It's easier.
The first thing we need to do is to change our positions re several Hegelian dialectics.
The first is "tax the rich" or "the 1%." The extremely rich, the .001% would LOVE to tax the 1%. That's their competition. In fact, the Democrats ARE the Party of the rich. The extremely wealthy have corporations and tax exempt foundations to shelter their income or to get others to pay the taxes respectively. They have the influence to get preferential regulations put in place. They LOVE socialism.
Another is "environmental protection v. private property." Private property IS environmental protection, and if you knew enough botany and wildlife biology to understand, then you'd realize in what disastrous condition the condition of our socialized land entertainment zones (national parks) really are. Environmental management is a service. Best that it be privatized.
Another is "public education." Check this out and say that I don't have a plan.
