As a conservative, it should infuriate that the U.N. feels it has the right to tamper with or even ‘suggest’ modifications to U.S. laws; especially rights granted through the Constitution. Why would anyone feel that foreigners should have a say in what happens here with U.S. citizens on our soil? The U.N. is out of control and is no longer inching toward a one-world governance, it’s sprinting toward it. Why help achieve the goal?

Carry, why are so many freepers ok with this? They think limiting my children and grandchildren's ability to purchase weapons or ammunition is ok because they're not talking about direct confiscation of what I have now? Why do they think that's ok?

And unintended gun grabber venues.

When we buy a car in Texas, it has to be compliant with the California Air Resources Board's emissions requirements. Why? Because it was too expensive to keep building California emissions cars and "other" versions. So they just do them all at the strict standard and bring the cost down. exactly as the CARB hoped.

So Fedex is an international company. If they want an easy time in international trade, then they have to comply with international regulators in Brussels and NYC. Do they want to threaten all their international business due to a charge of assisting interstate (or cross border illicit Texas traffickers) arms trades? No. They just politely refuse all gun shipments everywhere. Done deal.

Yeah. Slippery slopes are so common now that nobody cares I guess.

Why help achieve the goal?

We're sprinting toward it because we have a bunch of conservatives who are feeding the alligator, assuming it will eat them last.

If anything, we should be signing a treaty which establishes the US Bill of Rights as the baseline standard.

Until we bring the international community up to that standard of the 2nd amendment, for example, we are simply diluting our own rights into the cesspool of international dictators and commisars.

“Come and get our guns blue helmets!”

They won’t, don’t worry. Instead, you won’t be able to buy new ones (or parts), and won’t be able to get anything other than .22 LR to feed what you have. This will happen via the usual frog in the pot method.

They know they can’t send enough blue hats for a direct confrontation.

So I guess you believe that to ask questions about this or comment in anyway other than vehemently against it, automatically means one is all for it?

I thought we were against sheeple that never question anything? Would you rather no one ever asked questions about anything?

"inter alia" assumptions for UN bureacrats now and forever

Agree with you. IMO "inter alia" isn't specific enough to ensure the status quo, particularly in light of the left's tireless and relentless pursuit of the marxist agenda. Along with a national registry, this treaty could conceivably be used as cover and or justification by "progressives" to advance other "regulations" or even "executive orders" which could also negatively impact the 2nd Amendment.

sam - I’m not okay with this treaty - I vehemently oppose it. If given the chance, Barky will sign it, regardless of my opposition. The Senate will not ratify it. If it ever does get ratified, any parts that conflict with the Constitution are null and void, as the Constitution clearly states, and as SCOTUS has ruled on numerous occasions.

I also understand incrementalism, which works both ways. WRT FEDEX - feh, who cares? eBay used to allow gun stuff on their site. Then they didn’t, which spawned numerous gun-auction sites that are better than eBay ever was. If FEDEX says no to international shipments, many someones will take their place.

Last Sunday afternoon in central Louisiana was stormy with heavy downpours at times. The three newly updated shooting ranges in Woodworth, provided by the state, were full of people honing their skills for the storm they instinctively know is coming to this nation. These folks obviously aren't afraid of a storm.

To the Globalist, those Sophists, and the 500 or so called "Representatives/Leaders" in Washington who have chosen to ignore the well being and interests of the people of this great nation, please remember these historic quotes by Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto:

The fiercest serpent may be overcome by a swarm of ants.

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.

You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

And of particular interest to you Democraps in Washington who are starting to forget what happened to your colleagues the last time you stepped on the second, DON'T!

The big difference between green iguana and I is that I see international law as a Trojan Horse implanted in our legal system before the ink was dry on the Constitution. I have witnessed the way the system is gamed for fun and profit by the owners of tax-exempt "charities." It was a major topic as regards environmental regulation in my first book, and yes green iguana, that book contains original research on sources from the Congressional record as to how dirty the ratification process has been, how massively unconstitutional the enforcement powers pursuant to these treaties can be, and how long this has been going on.

I know how the players will act once such a treaty is signed with the complicity of unaccountable bureaucracies. At that point, guys like gi will be bitching about "federal judges," not understanding how the game was set into play.

I have spent the last ten years since that first book, laying the ground work to turn that system upside down in favor of private property, which is the reason Henry Lamb had me speaking at one of his Freedom21 conventions. I was one of the first people on this forum to point out the potential as regards the Second Amendment. I have advised HSLDA as to the potentials in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. And green iguana pretends to ignore the handwriting on the wall because he does not recognize that once the left gets a policy in place illegally or not, it is very difficult to undo once their pet lawyer NGOs start to sue. The carbon market may be dead, but that does not mean mitigations aren't written into Federal contracts. This very day, my daughter washes roots at Stanford so that they can measure the carbon sequestration in grasslands. Don't think for a second that the owners of various conservancies aren't licking their chops as they wait to cash in.

For those who don’t know, an AK47 is nothing more than a 30 caliber gun used in combat PRIMARILY because it is extremely durable. Any 30 caliber will hurt you. It’s a preferred caliber for a deer rifle. You can buy a Winchester, Marlin, Remington, etc., 30 caliber rifle. And some of them come with 6 round capacity with no clip necessary.

You say to yourself, yes but the AK has an auto setting. The truth is that we were taught in the army NOT to use that setting for the most part almost always. An infantry rifle is for aiming and inflicting damage on the enemy one target at a time.

A shooter in a theater spraying a whole clip in just seconds is actually less dangerous than the guy who aims and shoots one at a time.

So, like with the old M-1, you can bury an AK in the ground and dig it up later, do a bit of clean up and still have it fire. Durability is its hallmark. Lethality, of course, but you don’t want to get hit with a 30 caliber in any case.

I don’t bitch about federal judges - I work to get people elected who will appoint good ones. I also work to get people elected who will fix the regulatory process. Usually, these are the same people.

Yes, the other side is much better at working the process. But I’m also of firm belief that the people can only be pushed so far, then the tide will turn. Hopefully, we’re close to that point.

Assuming that all you have said is true, what would you have me do? I can’t even read your book, as it’s out of print. It seems interesting, so I’ll keep my eyes out for the second printing, but that’s beside the point...

There’s nothing you or I can do about the UN and the treaties it comes up with. There’s nothing you or I can do to keep a massive mistake like Barky from signing them. Your comments seem very fatalistic - once he signs them, it’s over. I’m not a fatalist - I don’t believe that.

What would you have me do?

But I’m also of firm belief that the people can only be pushed so far, then the tide will turn.

If it comes to that, may God grant us the courageous resolution of our forefathers.

Your comments seem very fatalistic - once he signs them, it’s over.

If you look at my comments prior, you will note that I said "very difficult" I did not say "impossible." I think you know by now that I've been very serious about fixing this mess for a long time. I haven't been sitting on my butt crying 'it's all over,' but doing the ground work to undo the system, sometimes months at a time on my hands and knees if that is what it takes. I would simply prefer that people not underestimate the perils they face and act to preclude them. It's easier.

The first thing we need to do is to change our positions re several Hegelian dialectics.

The first is "tax the rich" or "the 1%." The extremely rich, the .001% would LOVE to tax the 1%. That's their competition. In fact, the Democrats ARE the Party of the rich. The extremely wealthy have corporations and tax exempt foundations to shelter their income or to get others to pay the taxes respectively. They have the influence to get preferential regulations put in place. They LOVE socialism.

Another is "environmental protection v. private property." Private property IS environmental protection, and if you knew enough botany and wildlife biology to understand, then you'd realize in what disastrous condition the condition of our socialized land entertainment zones (national parks) really are. Environmental management is a service. Best that it be privatized.

Another is "public education." Check this out and say that I don't have a plan.

That's only three. I've got dozens. I've been trying for years to get FReepers to R-E-A-D and they all want to be spoon fed individually. I don't have time for that.

As to Natural Process, read the first chapter and the European PST patent application on the site and you'll get a basic idea what it's about.

So I guess you believe that to ask questions about this or comment in anyway other than vehemently against it, automatically means one is all for it?

Flailing and failing.

My first post to you was a question.

The problem here is that you won't answer it. Because you can't.

Because the document DOES explicitly protect "sporting and historical" novelties.

Because the document DOES NOT explicitly protect firearm use for self-defense.

The latter is what the 2nd Amendment is about. The former is a fig leaf for gun-control in gun-controlled countries like Britain and Australia.

They are trying to use it here.

I read it to leave probably the most important Lockean concept in the Bill of Rights up to ambiguous interpretation while known gun-control phrases are explicitly mentioned.

You read that as probably covered.

Trust but verify.

So, just verify it. Prove that quacking waddling bird is not a duck.

I see I have to be even more explicit for stuartcr and dartuser and others on here who seem to trust the America hating UN bureaucrats to respect God-given rights acknowledged explicitly in our Constitution. . .

Did you mean to ping me on this? I’m against the UN no matter what they do. I am particularly against this treaty.
