While President Obama is usually the candidate rubbing elbows with Hollywood's celebrities just this week it was announced the president's campaign would host fundraisers with the cast of "The Wire" and Vogue editor Anna Wintour Mitt Romney is looking to cash in with some star power of his own.
Actor Robert Duvall, star of "Apocalypse Now" and "The Godfather," will host a fundraiser for the Republican presidential hopeful in September at his Virginia home.
According to the invitation obtained Wednesday by the National Journal tickets to the event are $2,500 per person, while a $10,000 donation will assure you a photo with Duvall. For $25,000, supporters will get to enjoy dinner at the Duvall home.
While Romney is not expected to attend, his wife, Ann, is scheduled to be there.

Actor Robert Duvall shooting film in Brownsville Texas
Oscar-winning actor Robert Duvall was filming in the Camille Playhouse on Tuesday, the theaters Executive Artistic Director Eric Vera confirmed.
Production on a film titled A Night in Old Mexico will take place in Brownsville through August. Auditions for extras were held July 15 and 16, with principal photography beginning on July 17, according to a casting call notice. About 1,200 paid extras along with actors for 11 speaking roles were sought. More than 100 people showed up to audition in just under an hour at the Camille Playhouse.
Variety entertainment news reported that Duvall, 81, will star in the movie with Jeremy Irvine, 22, a young actor noted for his leading performance in the 2011 release War Horse.
Variety wrote that A Night in Old Mexico will combine action, tragedy and romance as it follows the developing relationship between a man, Duvall, and his grandson, played by Irvine.
The Brownsville Herald reported earlier that Emilio Aragon, president of laSexta TV network in Spain, is the director and Bill Wittliff the writer of the film. Wittliff was a writer and executive producer for the 1989 TV mini-series Lonesome Dove, which starred Duvall.
Duvall is Titus Red Bovie a Texan who becomes lost once he learns his ranchland will be foreclosed on. That day his grandson shows up and the two end up in a Mexican brothel. Eventually, the duo must escape Mexican drug runners because of their bag of ill-gotten gains taken from the criminals. In the process, the grandfather and grandson learn how to be a family, according to the film summary.
Duvall in one of my all time favorites, and I think one of the finest actors today.
One of my favorite Duvall movies is ‘Tender Mercies’, 1983.

You know, it shames me to say this, but I’ve never seen Lonesome Dove. I keep meaning to get around to it, but I haven’t gotten there yet.

best tagline EVER!!!!
Great Actor! Great American!
“...and he’s a relative of Robert E. Lee!”
He also played Lee in the 2003 movie “Gods and Generals”.
I’m sure I’m committing blasphemy to say this but Martin Sheen did a better portrayal of Lee in “Geetysburg”.
I was scrolling down to make darn sure somebody said what you just did.
The headline shocked me at first; for a second I thought it said “Robert De Niro” instead of Duvall.
shucks, 2d Hand Lions is one of my favorite movies of all time.

guts...considering who controls how movies are made and financed
That series is now being shown on MeTV every Sunday night in sequential order and, as far a I can tell, uncut. Robert Duvall is just one of many top-rank actors who appeared over the lifetime of that show.
I've only started watching it recently and hadn't seen it since the 1960s so, in spite of its age, it's new and fresh (again) to me. I had forgotten just how tightly-written and well-acted The Fugitive was. Each hour long episode reveals a depth of character development and literacy lacking into a lot of today's fare. The booming voice of William Conrad intoning the setup at the start of each program ("a Quinn Martin production") is a signal that some quality television is ahead. It's not surprising that a skilled actor such as Robert Duvall appeared on that show.
Perfect!!! He and obama make a great couple.
