Baltimore puts out welcome mat for immigrants [illegal aliens], hoping to stop population decline

The fate of Baltimore may rest with immigrants like Alexandra Gonzalez.

A native of Puebla, Mexico, Gonzalez feels more at home in Baltimore with every passing year. She attends city-run nutrition and exercise classes in Spanish and takes her two young children to a Spanish-language storytelling hour at her neighborhood library. She plans to earn a GED and become a teacher.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake (D) has told Latinos, in particular, that she is counting on them to help Baltimore gain 10,000 families within a decade. As a first step, she signed an order in March prohibiting police and social agencies from asking anyone about immigration status — and in the order, she explicitly asked federal immigration authorities to tell anyone they arrest that they are not agents of the city.

Baltimore joins an increasing number of U.S. cities, most of them manufacturing behemoths fallen on hard times, that are courting immigrants to reverse half a century of population loss.

The Global Detroit effort includes programs that help immigrants start small businesses, get driver’s licenses and learn English. As part of the Welcome Dayton Plan adopted last year, the Ohio city sponsors a soccer tournament for immigrant teams. Not to be outdone, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) says he wants his home town to be known as the most “immigrant-friendly city in the country.”

Please do not knock this move by Baltimore. Their mayor and their governor, O’Malley, have made such a welcoming place for illegal aliens that they are clearing out of Virginia and other states which have the courage to fight illegal immigration and Eric Holder.

Montgomery County (DC suburb) was once the richest county in America. Now it is far down the list and is becoming a Third World cesspool. Maryland lost more jobs this year than any other state. Working people and well-to-do are moving across the river to Virginia.

Let the liberals lie in the bed they made. Let us hope all 11 million (20 million?) illegal aliens move to Maryland.

And she can get in-state tuition discounts from Maryland state colleges, recently extended to illegals like her.

Meanwhile Maryland Dems recently raised the sales tax 33%, raised my income tax (not hers, she probably gets the tax credits and pay no income taxes) and raised the alcohol tax.

Yep, legal American taxpayers are just Serfs working for illegals like Alexandra. Welcome to America/Maryland.

I avoid Baltimore City. Our taxes also go to pay for their 'public transportation' used by Alexandra since she will have trouble getting a drivers licence.

I recently spoke with a Baltimore City school teacher.
She was Filipino. She had been recruited to come here on an H1B work visa because even though we have an absolute glut of Education school graduates, Americans will not take jobs in these inner-city combat zone schools. So teachers have to be imported.

She was absolutely terrified of her surroundings. The school was a cesspool of violence and crime. She was living in a neighborhood where she was afraid to go out at night. She was seriously considering packing up and going ANYPLACE else...including back to Manila.
