Just read....Holmes tipped off the police about the package. This article doesn't put a date to it...but an old article does....

I'm inclined to think he is effectively "ratting" out the person he sent it to.

Now...as to legalities....yes they got a warrant...blah, blah, blah...but anyone can take the 5th...so can it really be used against him without his permission.
