The only thing really surprising about these "hate crime" stories is that the perpetrators continue to think they can get away with faking it and they NEVER do. The Lincoln cops probably already know this is a complete hoax and are just now going through the motions of investigating it as a real "hate crime."
Homosexuals are mentally retarded. This, as you say, was easily predicted the day the story broke.
If she takes even one cent of the money that’s being raised to help her then I hope they will be able to add some sort of fraud charges to whatever else they hit her with.
This reminded me of a story from a couple of months ago that I saw here on FR....
Kill the Gay: Lesbian Couple Charged After Allegedly Faking Hate Crime
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2885969/posts
I never saw any follow-up so I decided to look, and voila:
“A gay couple accused of staging a hate crime they blamed on neighbors has pleaded guilty to one of the charges against them......pleaded guilty to one count of false reporting and were sentenced to 12 months of probation...”
soon as i read the headline I thought fake.
Not surprising. The hate-crime story goes on page 1. The news that it was a hoax gets buried on page 18, so most people never find out it was a hoax. The hoaxster generally faces no penalty.
The net effect is to create a perception in the public mind that hate crimes are rampant, and SOMETHING MUST BE DONE, like passing more legislation. Net win for the Left.
While the jury is still out if this is a hoax, in any event regardless of outcome it is a HATE CRIME.
It is either a hate crime against perverts or a hate crime against straight people.
Should this, or other crimes of this nature be determined to be a hoax, the punishment should be EXACTLY the same as if it were not a hoax.
Why does the purported "victim" need a lawyer so quickly?
Well it took a month, but here you have it! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2191664/Charlie-Rogers-Lesbian-charged-lying-claiming-masked-men-tied-beat-carved-anti-gay-slurs-body.html
