Boy Scout Oath

On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Seems like a good motto to me. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

My key chain medal is a remnant from 1962 Cub Scouts: “I promise to do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to be square, and to obey the Law of the Pack.”

Exactly.

As do most all of our elected representatives, they either lied or don't understand what an oath is.

As an Eagle Scout myself, I would just as soon the BSA revoke _all_ these political puppets’ Scout awards and deny them access to Scouting benefits for misrepresenting themselves.

The Scout Law:
A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.

Inconvenient for most, but words mean things. An oath _should_ be binding and one should expect consequences from breaking their oath. (Especially for those in positions of trust and responsibility.)
