Michigan voters think the economy is in rough shape, but President Obama continues to lead Mitt Romney in that state.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Michigan Voters shows Obama with 48% support to Romneys 42%. Five percent (5%) favor some other candidate in the race, and four percent (4%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The survey of 500 Likely Voters in Michigan was conducted on July 23, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Michiganders are tired of bothersome phone calls, we just don’t answer the phone unless we recognize the number. Bet there are many people they did not survey.
I’d like to see how many “declines” Ras had for that poll.
I’m beginning to believe that conservatives no longer trust any pollsters and are not participating when they get called. That skews the responders to the center and left.
There may be a few responders giving erroneous info just to undermine Ras’ credibility.
Three-quarters of the state probably gets a government check.
Doesn’t pass the Taste Test, lol.
wow..and the percentage of dems polled ?
completely horrid.. I’m from that state and it is a very blue state. the unions own Detroit, and which ever way Detroit goes, will determine who wins there.
If Romney can’t win his own state...wow.. no words.
It is arriving.Welfare,SSDI,etc,etc.The problem in Detroit is that most recipients spend it on crack.
I got a polling phone call a few days ago. Told them I was not interested and hung up. I will be polled in the voting booth.
I have family in Michigan who have already put their Obama 2012 stickers on the car. It’s not primarily because of handouts to businesss or to them personally. My brother-in-law gave an indication of their thinking when he was told that many voters were disillusioned with Obama’s leadership. “There are plenty of racists left in this country,” he said. I’d say these are people who still think of Walter Cronkite as the best newscaster ever and eee his successors as cut from the same cloth.
Trend is slightly positive...Obama was at 50% in the last poll...now he is at 48%. Will be interesting to see next month’s.
“..especially from a state hit very hard by the Obamaeconomy.”
Michigan wasn’t hit very hard at all by the Obamaeconomy! In fact, my campaign slogan for 2008 was, “Vote Obama! Export Michigan’s economy to the rest of the nation!” People scoffed, but it has ended up to be true.
Michigan suffered greatly under Granholm, but the drones in this state blamed Bush....They probably still do.
I am married to a Michigander, and lived there for a number of years. And I’m telling you, it’s impossible to underestimate the vast amounts of damage to the economic and political thinking of people in that state that was done by seven decades of UAW dominance.
If Romney is at 42% he is actually doing quite well.
Still buying the lies about GM I see.
With Obama, it's less a policy agreement than an emotional bond with him.
Obama at 48% in Michigan is not good.
However, Romney is polling weak too.
Just an awful campaign so far. Hope they are holding their fire and $$$ for later.
Why do you think that? Because it's not telling you what you want it to tell you?
Disappointing. I wonder if this is the result of Obama’s relentless negative ads. Romney was higher in an earlier poll wasn’t he?
Send the dentist a letter about it. You should not be forced to suffer through that drivel. Unless it is used as a means of pre-numbing you for a Root Canal.
