Bloomberg's gun-control idea: Cops go on Strike
NY Post ^ | July 24, 2012 | GERRY SHIELDS in DC and BETH DEFALCO in NY

Mayor Bloomberg ramped up his gun-control rhetoric to a whole new level last night, saying he’s surprised cops don’t walk off their jobs until the public forces lawmakers to get guns off the streets.

“I don’t understand why police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re going to go on strike, we’re not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe,’’ he told CNN’s Piers Morgan.

"Police officers want to go home to their families. And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor piercing bullets."

Earlier in the day, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie snidely suggested that Hizzoner has been using the victims of the Colorado movie massacre as “political pawns.”

“Can we at least get through the initial grief and tragedy for these families before we start making them political pawns?” said Christie, whose name has been floated as a possible veep candidate for one of Bloomberg’s targets, GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

“I am a little bit disturbed by the politicians who in the immediate aftermath of this type of tragedy try to grandstand on it, and I’m not going to be one of those people,” Christie said.

The governor didn’t mention the mayor by name. But it was clear whom he meant — Bloomberg has been the most visible public figure in his criticism of both President Obama and Romney for their steadfast refusals to talk about gun control in the wake of the bloodbath.

“During the next presidential term, there will be 48,000 Americans killed with illegal guns...”

Who's selling armor piercing bullets? Earth to Bloomberg the police have no duty to protect any particular individuals. There's a video at the source.

I’m fine with this if we also don’t have to pay their salary, pensions and lawsuits.

answer to your question: probably Eric Holder.

Serious question: Does Bloomberg have a history of drug use?

Given Bloomberg’s false choice: no police or no private firearms, I’ll take the police strike happily.

AP bullets are generally available. They are unregulated but aren't always a good choice for shooters, depending on the type of shooting you're doing.

For the purposes of this thread, Bloomberg doesn't have the first clue what AP's are used for, nor does he care - he has an agenda to parrot at every opportunity.

Me too. The police aren't necessary for keeping us free. In fact, they're often part of the problem.

If it hasn’t occurred to Despot Bloomberg yet, part of the problem is the cops can’t protect themselves because if they do, people like Ass Sharpton and Jesse Jerkson hold mass protests until a lib judge charges said cop with murder.

Air drop bags of crack and bundles of “Saturday Night Specials” into the projects and the problem takes care of itself. When the shooting stops, fire 80% of the cops.

Problem solved.

Mayor Bloomberg said he’s surprised cops don’t walk off their jobs until the public forces lawmakers to get guns off the streets.

I would imagine they'll go door to door with government SWAT teams to accomplish this.

Those who don't comply, and fail to surrender their arms by a certain date, will face hard prison time along with sadistic murderers, rapist and violent career gangsters.

It's better to turn tens of millions more Americans into criminals, so we can all be saved from a few crazy people.

Agreed. Any place else but NY....the crime rate would probably go down. The body count of scumbags would certainly go up though. Who's got time for all the mucking about with trials?

Good one! Him wanting the police to go on strike just shows how out of touch he is in NY. I hope his protection detail takes the lead and goes first. Then he might realize just how most people have the need to protect themselves.

Cops won’t go on strike. They don’t want us to find out how little we need ‘em or how easy they are to replace...

The reason some sheeple don’t go willingly to slaughter is because they are actually sheepdogs. There is a reason dogs have canine teeth. If they start going door to door they may find a lot more crazy people that they can handle. The mayor’s statements show that he may have become unhinged.
