The Muppets are ending their relationship with fast food restaurant chain Chick-Fil-A in a show of support for gay marriage, the creators of the puppet troupe said on Monday.
"The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors," the company said in a statement posted on their official Facebook page.
The Henson company, named after the creator of lovable characters like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, supplied their Creature Shop Muppet toys to Chick-Fil-A for children's meal packages but decided to sever ties after recent statements by the fast-food chain's Chief Executive Dan Cathy.
Cathy told the Baptist Press in a recent interview the company supported the "traditional family," and "the biblical definition of the family unit."
The Henson company, whose Muppet characters are hugely popular, said its Chief Executive Lisa Henson is a "strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD," the company said in their statement.

Actually it’s the low side of less than .5%. The problem is in the sample selection ~ they disqualify everybody who refuses to say anything about sex. That’s quite a few folks.

They keep adding letters to bump up the %. First it was Gay and Lesbian GL...something, then GLBT (include bi and trannies), then GLBTQ (add “questioning”), and now there is even another letter for a new category (forgot what is is though).
Didn’t you hear, Ernie left Bert for Rubber Ducky, Ernie told him that “you’re the one.”
Bert and Ernie are pillow biters, Snuffy is a heroin addict, Oscar is OWS, the Count is a pimp, and the Muppet band are all trippin’.

So next time a CEO is being interviewed by the media doing a personal profile, as almost all successful business people are, you believe when asked by the interviewer, the CEO should just say, "Naw, I, just stick to the business of cooking chicken. I aint no human being with my own thoughts."

But of course we get punished if God forbid, our statement is not politically correct in today's society. It appears many Americans really do not believe in free speech

Them Muppets are perverts, always have been. True Story. I saw Grover, Bert and Ernie do things to a cute little stripper at the Great Alaskan Bush Company in Anchorage that was downright inhumane. She was trying to dance to a Crystal Gale song, Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue. When they were done with her the song was Don’t It Make My Fuzzy Nose Brown. The Muppets should be, if they aren’t already, registered sex offenders.
Who’s surprised the Muppets would support gay marriage? Those dudes spend all day with someone’s hand up their ass.

Chik-Fil-A is a private run company. Since when is talking about traditional values and normal life an opinion that needs to be kept to self. They have supported programs for marriage for many years. Originally, I suppose they supported the programs because of the faltering of the family and rising divorce. Now marriage is being bastardized and being made unrecognizable. Mr. Cathy only reaffirmed where they have been all the time and did not refuse to serve anyone. The Muppets are the ones who made the move away from the norm and decided who they would not serve. They now have to find a way to market their product in a different way to children. Now parents know where Muppets stand and can make their decisions accordingly. Standing for the normal and traditional is not something to be chastised for.
The Muppets are now owned by Disney. That should be enough to explain everything.
I’d say puppets ought to stay out of politics, but then what would the Dems do with Obama?
