UPDATE: 11:30 a.m. ET: James Holmes, the suspect in the Colorado theater massacre, appeared in a Colorado courtroom on Monday. A judge advised Holmes of his Miranda rights, and that there was probable cause to continue to hold him without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder.
Holmes, who was transported from from a holding cell to the courtroom via an underground tunnel, appeared dazed: his brow furrowed, his eyes opening and closing often. His hair was dyed red. He did not speak.
Seated in a jury box next public defender Tamara Brady, Holmes never looked towards a gallery that included about two dozen victims and victims advocates.
The preliminary hearing lasted for about 11 minutes. Holmes' next court appearance is July 30.

In cases like this, the best thing to do to stop copy cats in this infamous me...me...society is total cut off cameras, news, interviews, etc.
By taking the commercialism out of it, it will help cut the fame seekers at the knees. Close the courtroom to the public and even the artist! Allow only affected families to attend a quick trial, quick sentence, quick appeal and done inside six months.
Never to hear from or about the bastard will deprive him and deter others from obtaining there coveted prize, FAME!
“I believe that he very much intended to survive.
I believe so, too. Perhaps he even thought that when the music started blaring in his apartment, someone would try to go in to turn it off, blowing up the apartment. Not only would it be a diversion from the theater, but they might also assume he had died in the apartment blast, allowing him to get away before they realized any connection.
He would probably do OK in prison, if he hadn’t killed a six-year-old girl.
I have always wondered what part of your brain do you have to shut down in order to follow through with plans for mass murder. You can plan a project for anything. Somewhere along the way you change your mind and just not start your project. This POS didn’t change his mind. He followed through. How does someone do that?
One of the survivors asked a very good question from his hospital bed. Paraphrasing because I don’t have the exact quote, “What was it about your life that was so bad that you felt like you had to go kill innocent people?” Best question I’ve heard from this tragedy.
Yeah, I saw the same thing “oh @#$@, what did I do “ ? As reality sets in.

It happened about 4 years before you got here. There are a lot of inside jokes that date back many years, and if you are new (in a relative sense), they will go right over your head.
Dazed, mindless wandering, empty eyes - Oh, DEMOCRATS
Rip-off of Bob Hope’s line in the movie “Ghostchasers?”, replying to Richard Carlson’s comments on zombies.
Carrot Top is INNOCENT. It was really Kathy Griffith in drag.
,,,, I like the Texas idea ,,, but the anti-death penalty libs will claim the Col, DA was forum shopping .
DTs usually are very anxious and fidgeting. They literally can sit still. Also will have runny nose and eyes as well as a good case of diarrhea. I stand by my observation. He is an a stiff dose of antipsychotics.... And I think he probably is psychotic. That’s one that is really hard to fake
Here you go. More efficient this way...
First the police need to shove a baton way up in there and turn it awhile ..Just to keep him focused. Crazy ? Sure he is ..so what ?
Anything that insane needs to be promptly exterminated
Jeez - who is his hero? Carrot Top?
Yeah I realized that about an hour ago while walking the dog. Face palm moment.
I ask, not to pooh-pooh your knowledge, but to find out if this is possible with such people.
There were some early reports of a loud boom or explosion at the apartment before the shootings that no one called in. We’ll have to see what later reports say about it.
Apart from the hair, of course.
My take is that thankfully this guy was a lot less capable with firearms than the Norway shooter, or the death toll would have been a lot higher.
Yes, thanks.....I don’t have the software or know-how for that.
Oh, God, another flashback!
