It's an old idea.
One of the seven wonders of the ancient world was the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. It was burned by Herostratus in 356 BC simply because he wanted to be famous. As punishment, the city decided to wipe out Herstratus' name. No one would ever know that Herostratus was the arsonist who burned down the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
Apparently, this sort of deletion is harder than it looks.

The date (20th of the month), the location, and the M.O. bear such striking similarities to Columbine that it is highly probably that this evil man was hoping to acheive a higher body count than the Columbine pair.
He did not.
He will get a needle in his arm knowing that he was a “failure”.
Almost perfect justice.
Perfect justice would be total obscurity.

It is hard. But it can happen. Or, give the wrong name, so many more iterations of Doug Witherspoon appear on the internet, and in the books, perhaps, than Jarod Loughner.
It's hard, but boy would it take the air out of their tires.

A chipper shredder, feet first, televised to all would probably be a better deterrent.

I like the idea as a conceptual theory, but unfortunately, society doesn’t cooperate in such an ideal way.
The problem is this could unite the psychopaths into an underground clique who feed off each other’s legends. There will always be groups keeping these names and acquaintances revealing information. When 99% of society complies, the 1% band together to keep these legends(sic) alive and instead of being painted as just a nutjob, they now achieve a darker, mysterious, legendary status among others of like mind.

They don’t care. They only care about being famous. Well, INfamous, actually.

A Xerxes tyrannical enough to enforce this would not be tolerated today for other reasons, but a society stern enough to be united in the shaming would be helpful.
Ya know, when Barack Obama and Jay Carney were making a big deal about not mentioning the shooter’s name, they could have suggested it. You can bet the MSM would immediately kowtow. It would be maybe the best thing Barack Obama had done in his entire sorry loser career.

I mentioned “Demon” as a substitute for his name or anything synonymous such as “young man” which was an early account.

Then make it a crime. A serious one, that is prosecuted. "Stating The Name Of The Banished, First Degree, Felony".

Another problem I have with this is that the psychopaths would have succeeded in changing society.
From an open and free society, we now have a society whose justice system extends to not only punishing the guilty, but controlling what the rest of society speaks of the crime.
Imagine the control needed to accomplish this.

Which wouldn’t fly in a land with a modern First Amendment, of course.
But it’s almost as good if major news organizations would do it voluntarily. And Barack Obama is in about as good a place as anybody to ask for it. How about it Barack. Do something classy for once.

Best solution- get the cops out of their cars and walk their neighborhood beats-
Get the cops to know the people and the cops will find out who the schizo`s are really quick coz the neighbors will tell them who the strange freako`s are...
That`s what we do here plus we all have guns here and the cops know it and RESPECT US coz most of have shot a gun since we were 6...

Then make it a crime. A serious one, that is prosecuted. "Stating The Name Of The Banished, First Degree, Felony". What we need would be something like librarians who erase or correct all the media and books, removing these blemishes. It wouldn't just be the crime, but the cleansing of all references.
Of course, to stop all whispers, there must be total observation and control. Everyone has TV's. Maybe something where the TV not only gives you information, but monitors you don't say the wrong words.
This is all sounding very familiar.

Laz, did anyone ever find out if it was the perp or misinformation that the name mohammad something or other from iran surfaced early. Rumor was the perp first gave this as his name. Was this rumor ever confirmed?
Although a good idea, your is, I have doubts any of us are that disciplined.
