"Violence like the massacre that happened in Aurora, Colo., today is a staple of action films, including Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. A similar, now haunting, scene unfurls in "The Dark Knight Rises" when a masked villain leads a violent gang into a packed football stadium and deploys guns and explosives on the unsuspecting crowd.
While there has been no indication as to the motives of James Holmes, the suspected 24-year-old shooter who is now in custody, new evidence suggests that he was inspired by the Batman series of comic books and/or movies.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to ABC News that Holmes said "I am the Joker" when apprehended by authorities. His hair was painted red, the same hair color of Heath Ledger's Joker at one point in 2008's "The Dark Knight."

There are more parallels. In Frank Miller's iconic 1986 comic book series, "The Dark Knight Returns," the Joker murders a television studio audience by deploying "smile gas." Holmes began his massacre by setting off smoke bombs throughout the theater.
In the same book, Arnold Crimp, a disturbed man who just lost his job, pulls out a handgun in an adult film theater and kills three people. A scene from the strip shows a news anchor saying, "Three slain in Batman-inspired porn theater shoot-out." ..."

I have been wondering ... and searching ... for his booking photo as well. How is it that we hear he has orange hair but that is not the photo. The most recent pic of him that I have seen is of his dating site page where he DOES have orange hair.
I heard that Holmes was caught in the parking lot by police. Was he not trying to escape? Seems like he would have had time to get out of there before the police arrived.
If you mean generally speaking, whether there is a Black Bloc connection to James Holmes or not, absolutely. But don't count on it. They basically let the Weather Underground off the hook (well intended, but not-the-best tactics).
I'm only trying to point out the pro-Conservative, pro-Capitalist political messages in the Batman/Dark Knight film series that MAY have driven this infantile nut case to do what he did. I wouldn't even consider going to see a movie like this, or most others for that matter.

Apparently police were already on the scene prior to shooting since that was common practice during midnight showings.

Back in the 1960s the murders of John and Robert Kennedy were blamed on movies, TV shows and Comic books.
TV shows immediately dumbed down to kiddie shows,comics cleaned up their act for a while, and Movie producers declared they would SELF=POLICE themselves with their rating system.
By 1969 Hollywood was turning out extremely violent and sexual trash. It has gotten worse since.
I heard the early 1860’s were a blast.

The movie industry staved off government regulation by self regulation with a joke of a ratings code modified many times. Remember these?

By 1970 movies were being shown that went way beyond the movies of just a year earlier.
Most of the crime dramas on TV today would send a 1969 politician into spastic fits!
I still remember what happened to GUNSMOKE. Before 1968 it was a decent adult oriented TV show. In the fall of 1968 after the MSM madness slowed down it was changed to a kiddie oriented show and kiddie timeslot. Even Doc Milburn Stone complained about it no longer being for adults.
