A disabled veteran and his service dog were abused by United Airlines staff, he has claimed.
Jim Stanek, a three-tour Iraq veteran suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury, said employees of the airline kicked his dog, Sarge, and asked him if he was retarded.
In a YouTube video the Paws and Stripes founder describes his ordeal which began on July 16 at Dulles International Airport in Washington.

Yes they are and it’s remarkable to see about 25 of them together.

This is important information for Vets, United Airlines and others. Veterans and their loved ones can call the Veteran’s Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1, chat online, or send a text message to 838255 to receive assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Also, the local Red Cross, Salvation Army or any number of veteran’s organizations would help. Many airports have a Military Liaison agent/officer who can help, as well. Why doesn’t United Airlines know this and have guidelines for this type of situation? It isn’t rocket science! Only a minimum effort by UA and or Airport Security would have been needed. Thank you for your service, Jim!

Thank you for that very useful information. ;)

Many years ago they moved the local big AKC annual show to Harrisburg PA.
I can’t get my ‘massive amounts of Dobermanns fix” anymore...;D
I’d drag my pack there to watch but the PA show doesn’t allow non-showing dogs into the building.
Buzz-killers.

I understand. None of mine can show with them even though 2 are registered with them. One is White. You know the old Hitler mentality. He is the most beautifully conformed dog i have ever seen. You might try the Rare breeds shows.
I don’ think any of them will allow non-showing dogs. If you can show yes.

You misunderstand.
They do not allow any dogs who are not actively entered for showing at ~that~ meet.
When they had it at the local fairground, dog fanciers brought their non-showing dogs to simply watch and mingle.
I’ve never had a Z-factor Dobe, would never have one and it’s not a “Hitler mentality”.
It’s a terribly unhealthy mutation and if you know the history, it was *massive* inbreeding done by unscrupulous greedy backyard breeders who disregarded the health of the breed in favor of making a quick buck off of people who wanted something “different”.
I’m horrified that the greedy, unprincipled AKC even allows them to be registered.
The Z-factor has since invaded some of the top lines, much to their detriment.
Most reputable breeders take great pains to research their bloodlines in order to guarantee their dogs are free of it.
A Z-factor should -never- be bred, no matter how wonderful it may look.
There are tons of them up for adoption because their owners couldn’t afford their medical costs and/or behavioral issues.
http://dpca.org/albino/albino_about.htm
I know you love your dog dearly but *please* do not put it into the gene pool or support unscrupulous Z-factor breeders in the future.
It is seriously undermining a great breed and I fully support “Operation Whiteout”.
I’ve loved/owned this breed for nearly 40 years and am constantly enraged by those who would selfishly destroy it for quick profit.

I did not misunderstand and hitler did not like the white breed of the german shepherd. I know he liked the others.
My dog comes from a reputable breeder whose mother and father come from great lines. Both hold many titles. My dog wins everything he in. My breeder has bred GSDs for over 30 years and is very careful with her breeding lines. iI I were to breed him I would consult her first. Now I am content with showing.
You are right about AKC. Just like the Pit Bulls. aggression is being bred into the breed.

White GSDs are just white dogs.
[well, technically, they're genetically "extreme cream dilutes" and not really "white", much as a polar bear is not truly "white"]
“White” Dobermans are -all- albinistic.
One is a simple coat color mutation which does not affect the health of the dog, the other is an entire system genetic mutation which affects *all* health aspects of the dog and should NOT be passed on.
Which breed of dog do you have that is "white"?
A Dobermann or a GSD?
With one, you're simply adding a litter of unaccepted color dogs, with the other, you're adding a litter of genetic mutants with immunosystem disorders.
Clarify, please.

White GSD. He is pure white except his undercoat is black. It’s like my silver sable Shiloh Shepherd. A lot of people say they have silver sables; but they are really gray. The one thing you tell them apart is their undercoat is pure white The silver sable is one one of the original colors of the GSD breed.
He is not albino.

I thought you were considering breeding an albino Dobe.
Never mind.

That’s not surprising considering that one of the foundation sires of GSDs was a white.
That’s one AKC ruling I don’t really agree with.
If nothing else, they could be shown in their own group much like white Bull Terriers.

Some stuff from various WGSD sites:
The white shepherd has been officially recognized by the FCI as a separate breed, since late 2002. It is called the White Swiss Shepherd Dog. FCI Standard No. 347. For those interested, the standard is posted here: www.fci.be/uploaded_files/347a2002_en.doc Basis for accepting the whites as a separate breed by the FCI was that in the early years of the GSD there had been whites that contributed to the foundation of the breed. So who knows, the coated GSD may follow in these foot steps one day! Grandsire Greif of the GSD foundation sire Hektor Linksrhein - also called Horand von Grafrath, was white. A Horand son, Champion Hektor von Schwaben also came from a white line. Berno von der Seewiese, also a Horand progeny, born 1913, was the first white GSD registered with the SV.
Blues, livers, whites, & longcoats have existed in the GSD breed since the beginning & will continue to exist in the breed because such genes can travel hidden through an infinite number of generations of dogs with standard black pigment. Horand v Grafrath had at least one white longcoated grandparent. While breed standards represent ideals to strive for, it also must be remembered that for the most part, the writing & changing of the breed standards have been in the hands of only a very few people who had control of national breed clubs & breed standards have been changed a number of times with some of those changes to breed standards having been made for political or other invalid reasons.
After World War 2, due to political issues within the SV and a lack of knowledge of GSD color genetics the SV changed their standard to reject white dogs. The GSDCA followed the SV’s lead shortly after that by also changing the AKC breed standard to make white a disqualifying color. I haven’t yet been able to find any verifiable information yet on exactly when or why the SV made blue an unregisterable color, but the GSDCA’s making blue a disqualfying color was due to breed club politics & came about after a bicolor blue & tan dog, Hoobin’s Gray Boy, finished his championship & even won BIS awards. I was acquainted with someone who knew the dog personally & she told me Gray Boy was a beautiful animal, a very impressive mover, and that when the dog attained his championship, took BIS awards, and in the process angered GSDCA “powers that be” by beating some of their best dogs in the process, those GSDCA “powers that be” moved to make blue a disqualifying color (and livers too by requiring that addition to white being a disqualyfing color, any GSD whose nose isn’t predominantly black also be disqualified. Blue dogs have blue noses, liver dogs have liver noses, thus this addition to the standard effectively made blues and livers to be disqualifying colors. It appears that something very similar to the GSDCA’s politically motivated change in the AKC standard has also happened in the UKC when the UKC standard was changed after a particular blue and tan GSD finished his UKC championship.
Almost ALL of the most important sires in the history of the breed carried white and/or blue or liver or carried ALL THREE -WHITE, BLUE, LIVER. Many of the most important and influential contemporary sires also carry one or more of these three genes.
Here’s a list of a FRACTION of the well known dogs in the breed, historical or temporary, that carried one or more of these three genes (blue, liver, white).
Sgr Alf vom Nordfelsen SchH3-prod liver white
Anderl v Kleinen Pfahl SchH3FH Int. blue carrier
Arras vd Jurgensklause-prod blue, white

Sel Ch Tannenwold’s Igor ROM-prod liver, white
GVIntCh Troll vom Richterbach SchH3FH ROM carried blue, white
Ulbert v Piastendamm Schh3-prod liver
Can GV, Int Ch Ulk Wikingerblut SchH3ROM-prod liver, white
Uran v WildsteigerLand SchH3FH blue carrier Sieger
Uwe v Kirschental SchH3FH liver carrier
VA Valk v Michelstadter Rathaus SchH3FH-prod blue
V-Vello zd Sieben-Faulen SchH3FH white carrier
Wim vom Fourniermuhlenbach SchH3-prod blue
Ch Wotam vom Richterbach SchH1 CDX ROM-prod blue, white
Just this very small fraction of well known dogs who carry one or more of the genes for blue, liver and/or white should be enough to show that if all the dogs who were carriers of these colors had never been bred from, the GSD as a breed would never have existed at all.

But, then again, I’m allergic to becoming doberman chow. Strong allergies, mind.
