CBS News) More information about the firearms used in the deadly shooting in Aurora, Colo. during the midnight "Dark Knight Rises" screening has come to light. A law enforcement source close to the investigation told CBS News that all the guns were purchased within the last six months, which is considered a "short time to the crime."

The guns were all purchased legally between May 22 and July 6 at three Colorado gun stores.

James Holmes purchased a Smith and Wesson .233 high powered semi-automatic rifle at Gander Mountain gun store in Thornton, Colo, according to the law enforcement source. He also bought a .40 caliber Glock pistol at Gander Mountain gun store in Aurora, Colo. Another .40 caliber glock handgun and a Remington 870 shotgun were purchased at Bass Pro Shops in Denver, Colo.

If your shoulder isn’t black and blue after 60 rounds than it isn’t high powered. Your description is very good thou.

These are not all the weapons he had, police chief said he had an AR-15 So where did he buy all the SWAT gear (full body armor) and tear gas canister?

According to the full article he had a S & W .233 (aka AR-15), a Remington 870 shotgun and two Glock .40 pistols, all legally purchased. As far as "SWAT" gear, including a bullet proof vest and gas mask, it is all readily and legally available in a thousand different places.

All you need is a way to pay for it.

These are all just tools. Like any other item they can be used or they can be abused.

We don't need more gun control or more gas mask control. We do need more criminal and idiot control. When society and the law disarms everyone except the lawbreakers, the law abiding citizens are left defensless in the face of evil men like this shooter.

Never mind the guns, but where did he get the supposedly regulated law enforcement clothing?

Wouldn't be that hard, just page through 'Shotgun News' and there are page after page of manufactures listed. If he phonied up some paperwork he could have represented himself as the proprietor of a 'cops only' supply house and bought some 'samples'. I wonder where he got the tear gas grenades as those definitely are Law Enforcement ONLY. Civilians can buy pepper spray, no CS or CN and for sure no grenades. Although knowing the MSM, the 'tear gas' may very well have been smoke bombs. What is a S&W .233 high powered semiautomatic rifle? Another typo? .223 sounds about right for a fake cop gun.

Then again, maybe he knew a disgruntled SWAT team cop...

Regards,
GtG

AR-15, Remington 870 and a couple of Glocks? We’re talking at least $2000 for the guns alone. Where did an unemployed guy get the money to make these purchases? I’d like to see his bank and credit card records.

Well I cannot (and will not) give you any personnel suggestions on what to buy and or carry but get something big enough to do what is necessary and spend enough time at the range to be VERY comfortable with it. Be sure your are ready to take someones life with it is necessary because “when the hammer drops the B/S stops”. I have been there and done that to quote the saw and it is not easy. But to quote some one whom I have forgotten right now. “FREEDOM is NEVER FREE”!

Anybody remember the BP oil disaster? What happened to all the supposed environmental damage? There wasn't any long lasting damage nor any considerable damage but the media went on about that for months like it was the end of the world and then suddenly nothing: and Yet NO ONE questions the media about this nor about anything. The media are marxists and they are destroying this world and country..

You know who serves as the chief lobbying arm for British Petroleum?

The Podesta Group.

A high powered Washington lobbying firm co-founded by Clinton White House chief of staff, and Obama transition team captain, John Podesta; - and run by his ( "liberal democrat" ) brother, Tony. Podesta also runs the Center for American Progress, - lefty think tank.

In the aftermath of the gulf disaster, BP paid big money to Democrat Hilary Rosen, to orchestrate PR damage control for the company.

It also didn't hurt British Petroleum that Senator Obama received the largest chunk of BP related PAC money while in Congress.

This helps explain why the Gulf disaster, and its aftermath, sort fell off the radar screen.

Wonder what set him off earlier in May to prompt him to plan this?

Good question, but it sure looks like the Batman trailer portraying the very crime he committed had something to do with his actions. Maybe it is time for the guys in the movie studio to start thinking about the effect of the movies they make.

YO!

You had me rolling on the floor.

Me? I use a recoil pad on my shoulder. I can get out about 100 rounds in before I puss out.

I think maybe his MOMMA and family are to blame. That’s why she was so fast to rat him out.

... what is a .233?

When you don't know WTF you're writing about, proofreading can't bail you out. What would raise a chuckle in most circles just passes right over the liberal intelligentsia's heads.

Glocks don’t come in 7mm.

Not true.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5.56x45mm_NATO#5.56_mm_NATO_versus_.223_Remington

You have to check to see which chamber type it has as many weapons marked .223 Remington can actually use 5.56 safely.

Does anyone remember the millions of rounds of 40 cal. ammo purchased by our government? Makes one go hummmm? Hearing now all the firearms were purchased legally. Heard earlier none of the firearms were purchased legally. Going hummmmm, over on this side at one of the deck chairs.

Don't know what to think at this point. Too many conflicting and contradictory reports. Even read a report saying the 40 cal. ammo our government purchased wasn't purchased.

Check the “banglist” keyword here on FR. But don’t ask them if you should buy a 7mm Glock. They’ll laugh you off the page.

12 dead is a tragedy.

But it is a typical weekend in Chicago.

Gangsters with dog logs for brains, killing each other, and some ding opening up on a theater full of innocent people, are a bit different.
