Warner Bros., the studio releasing The Dark Knight Rises, is considering whether to cancel screenings across the country after a massacre took place at a midnight screening in Colorado that left 12 moviegoers dead in the early hours of Friday.
Executives at the Hollywood studio were gathered at the Burbank offices from the middle of the night, struggling with whether to alter roll-out plans for the second-biggest release in movie history.
An executive told TheWrap that Warner was watching the situation and still considering whether to take further measures beyond cancelling the Paris premiere, including cancelling screenings at theater chains.
The executive said they would be making decisions on Friday and throughout the weekend as they conferred within the studio, monitored news reports and spoke to theater chains.

We better check close to see if anyone was smoking in the movie, that might cause someone to light a ciggie, or so say the movie makers in Hollywood...all the killing, sex and S and M that goes on doesn’t influence anyone...

Movie should go on!!! The problem is not the movie, it is the “Occupy Wall Street” Obamabot nutcase that did this. This is the end result of the Obama mantra, class warfare, racism and pitting one American against another!!! Wake up, America, time is running out. Adolf Obama is just about ready to take your freedom and liberty away forever!!! Shame on him for coaching this type of tragic nightmare for our country and citizens!!!

same as the legion of spree killers inspired by Natural Born Killers and the juggalo attacks and murders by idiot feral teens in the Insane Clown Posse family"
Please quote the dates and incidents of the "legion" of these sprees please as well as the court judgements that specifically link those incidents to those movies/music/groups.

There is no satisfaction in this event.
The only satisfaction will come when the perp gets the needle in his arm from the state.

If you honestly think the media has no influence on people and their behavior, I have an ad to sell you for a boat in the Sahara. Do you think public opinion is swayed by the wind?
I honestly don't think that movies, whether violent or not, have any effect on normally adjusted people and children, other than they are entertained and realize that it's just a make believe movie. But I suspect that there are an ever growing number of young people today raising themselves with trash of all kinds that pass for current American culture these days.
But it's not the movies themselves, billions of people watch these kind of films with few events like this. The problem is what a large and ever growing portion of American society has become, and is defended by the liberals in our society. You should blame them for this kind of behavior.

What happened to "the show must go on?"
Leave it up to individual theaters. If I had one, I'd run the film anyway.
I know some thinks this will make people more apt to go but that isn't so. Right after 9/11 movie theaters became wastelands; this could easily depress attendance showings. The positive is there is likely enough enthusiasm to see the movie, people who couldn't otherwise get tickets may be able to. For a less prominent film, an incident like this could destroy its box office and opportunity to be profitable as happened in the post 9/11 weeks.
This will certainly play havoc with WB's hopes for a new opening record, either in general for compared to prior outings in the franchise.

In the 1940's-60's it was The Beatles and Elvis...Rock N Roll was Satan/force people to murder.
Then in the 1980's it was Heavy Metal was Satan/force people to murder.
Then in the 2000's it was Video Games are Satan/force people to murder.
Then, just recently selective memory states that it is just the recent gory movies are Satan/force people to murder.
(Even though ultra gory movies have been released far and wide since the 1970's)
Obviously Saudi Arabia and Iran have it 100% right. Banning all that stuff has obviously made them a far superior peaceful and nonviolent people.

He wasn’t dressed like the villain, the villain doesn’t wear a bullet proof vest or riot helmet. There were ZERO spree killers inspired by Natural Born Killer. Juggaloos are nuts, much as I hate ICP you can’t really pick your audience. The Dendermonde attacker did not dress up as the Joker, just had died hair and some make up.
So far all of your “incidents” of life imitating art didn’t happen. Meanwhile out here in reality there are nutty people and there’s no torture porn in the Dark Knight.

Yeah, and since the 1940s when, as you say, the Beatles and Elvis first came on the scene, there have been countless simpleton apologists for the decline of the culture.

Are you saying Holmes would have done this at the midnight screening of any movie at all? Are you saying that the indication (dyed his hair red; did he have the Joker’s smile painted?) that Holmes identified with the Joker had nothing to do with this massacre?
Some movies have more political portent than other films. This one has been extremely controversial since before the release.

So you saw the movie? No I didn't, and I won't, I'll have to be satisfied with the enthusiastic reviews from the likes of you, which I can even quote ahead of time: "Oh my God, amazing!" and "Incredible!"

Yeah, and since the 1940s when, as you say, the Beatles and Elvis first came on the scene, there have been countless simpleton apologists for the decline of the culture.
And yet there are countless simpletons who blame human behavior on make believe because said simpletons think they have the power to control human behavior.
As if there weren't spree killers at public events or mass murderers of children at schools prior to Rock N Roll and Video Games and movie violence.
Selective memory is the sign of a so-called 'simpleton'. Selective memory is the mark of a true liberal, it's what the MSM does, and rewriting history is what tyrants do.

Nutty people are nutty people. Where they get the inspiration for their decor from might vary, but they were still at their core nutty people. If this guy was more of an Oliver Stone fan he might have popped 2 weeks ago at a showing of Savages. More into animation might have been Ice Age 3 last week or Brave a month ago. Blaming where they got the idea for the decor (oh and Joker’s hair is green most of the time, sometimes purple, never red) is focusing on the wrong area.

Clearly, kids that grow up playing murder-games, watching the outright vile filth that sometimes is belched out the distal end of hollywoods bowels, are often prone to mimic deviant, murderous and disgusting behavior. The negative impact on kids is readily apparent. Anyone who thinks that a childs environment has no effect on his behavior is living in a dream world.
Most of my generation were blinded at an early age due to the evil influence of “The Three Stooges.”
I wish someone had the moral courage to censor the program to protect us from their evil influence.
