While much remains unclear about the shooting which took place 30 minutes from Columbine High School where 13 people were shot to death in 1999 - it is likely to reinvigorate the debate over gun laws. Here are some highlights from the State Patrols primer on the states gun laws.

They allowed rifles and gas grenades though.
My point exactly. If there would have been even one person in the theater carrying concealed, they MAY have had a chance in stopping the problem before the shooter killed 12 innocent people.
That is..false publishing. Plain and simple. The tea party Jim Holmes-if there is one, has a case as does the local tea party.
How much do they sue for?
Nothing.....ABC apologized and the entire mistake lasted 2 hours. Not enough to even get a free movie ticket.
Concealed carry permits are relatively easy to obtain in Colorado. I suspect there were several people in the theater who were carrying concealed, but they didn't or couldn't stop it. Theaters tend to be pretty large and unless the person carrying concealed just happens to be sitting near the perp, there's a really good chance that concealed carry would not have made a difference and could have made things a lot worse in a dark, crowded, chaotic theater.
Let's be honest: Not all people who carry concealed are created equal. In the absence of military combat training or police SWAT training, the average person carrying concealed lacks the training to assess and react quickly to a surprise attack in a dark crowded theater without putting even more people at risk. I carry every place I'm legally allowed to carry. I go to the range several times a month and I'm very skilled with what I carry. If someone were to try to rob me in my office or a parking lot late at night or break into my house when I am home, I'm pretty sure tht one of us would end up dead and it wouldn't be me. As much as I would like to think that I could have stopped this guy if I were at the theater in Aurora, the reality is that me and my .357 wheel gun would not have made a difference unless I just happened to be sitting within a few yards of this guy and I was quick enough to assess and react to the surprise attack before chaos broke out and other people blocked my line of fire. Perhaps the answer is to require every able, law-abiding citizen over the age of 18 to take a tactical firearm training course (or pay a tax if they don't) so that we're more preapred for situations like this.
Gun laws?
Nah, it is quite obvious to any casual observer that movie theaters have to be outlawed. /sarc
The Second Amendment trumps insane terrorists and it always will.

Whenever there is a horror like this one, the first thing liberals do is blame conservatives, and next they try to take the guns away from those of us who had nothing to do with the shooting.
FREEPERS......mob the site...my reply below..

The NRA will probably claim that this incident doesnt justify infringing gun owners rights. This shooter was not, however, exercising any Second Amendment rights....snip......and he clearly could not have killed or wounded as many people without having a semiautomatic weapon with a high rate of fire and a large-capacity clip. It is long past time to regulate such weapons.
I guess I am the NRA.....and gotta call BS on you Peter. A malefactor with a couple bars to block the exit door handles and 5 gallons of gasoline would have killed them all.......thank God this lunatic grabbed the big bad guns he did to terrify people like you instead of setting about in cold deliberation to kill hundreds.
A single legal firearm owner carrying his piece in the crowd would have surprised and killed the bad guy. As it was.....such a thing is illegal in Aurora. Gee....is that why he did it there?
I truly wish I were there armed as always to defend the helpless. Any real man does.
I will not surrender my God given right to arms preserved for men like me by men like me for for 250 years in in America....still the best of the last free countries.....and certainly not because of some loser weenie 1,500 miles away who was already breaking the law.
It has been tried before....won’t happen. What he uses is EXACTLY the kind of arms we are expected to have and need to have as one of the many checks and balances in a Republic to keep it free.
If you disagree, read about Roman Republic, the Italian Republics, the Swiss Republic...and more. Your problem is not with me or the NRA, it is with history and the nature of men.
Does not matter. They are liable for the mental distress caused by their slander.
The guy has had to have his phone cut off because of threats coming in.
ABC gets to pay if the person goes to court. An apology has to be accepted in writing by the person harmed.
To be honest, I did not know he went through that much. I know for example, if this happened in Annapolis, MD where I lived and somehow the person had my name and they blamed me somehow. I am at work (Naval Academy) and I am sure that we would have a pretty good laugh. I am sure my Facebook would be pretty interesting but I can’t imagine taking it seriously.
As I understand. the fellow had to have his phone disconnected because of personal threats.
I would suppose, he is communicating by other means as other media has talked to him.
I probably did hear wrong; however, I bet after this, the big push will be on.
Morality can’t be legislated and insanity
can’t be legislated against.
You beat me to it as well. And I will take it one step further. Why is there not a social responsibility to be armed in order to prevent such tragedy? The liberal argument that anything less than banning guns from the potential victims is vacuous on it’s face.
Indeed, a true brave patriot who was capable WOULD want to be armed so that such evil can be confronted and our society and families protected. Why let the libs make the idiotic argument that being a victim is better than fighting evil? It is a moronic argument. This person understands it;

Refuse to be a sheep. Patriots have to be armed.
