Easily one of the most insulting phrases uttered by President Obama or any president, it denigrates individual American spirit, ambition, drive, skill and industriousness.

Their philosophy was summarized in their Declaration of Independence from coercive government power and carried out in a Constitution which limits any powers they allow their representatives to have.

scarcity to abundance; &
from tyrannical government rule to individual liberty
HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?
Most of our history books don’t tell us that, in the beginning, the pilgrims established a communal economic system. Each was to produce according to his ability and contribute his production to a common storehouse from which each was to draw according to his need.
The assurance that they would be fed from the common store, regardless of their contribution to it, had a peculiarly disabling effect on the colonists. Taking property away from some and giving it to others bred discontent and retarded employment. Human nature was the same then as now, and before long, there were more consumers than there were producers, and the pilgrims were near starvation. Governor Bradford, his advisors, and the colonists agreed that in order to increase their crops, each family would be allowed to do as it pleased with whatever it produced. In other words, a free market system was established. In Governor Bradford’s own words:
“This had very good success; for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corne was planted than other waise would have bene by any means ye Governor or any other could use, and saved him a great deall of trouble, and gave farr better contente. The women now wente willingly into ye field, and tooke their little-ons with them to set corne, which before would aledg weaknes, and inabilitie; whom to have compelled would have bene though great tiranie and oppression. . . . By this time harvest was come, and instead of famine, now God gave them plenty, and the face of things was changed. . . . and some of ye abler sort and more industrious had to spare, and sell to others, so as any generall wante or famine hath not been amongst them since this day . . . .” (Wm. Those who, today, favor central government planning, common ownership and redistribution of the earnings of others are advocating a system that Americans tried and rejected over 350 years ago. Their wisdom gave birth to the great American miracle!

And putting 'Freedom's point' on this; would be a wise move per Mitt's Campaign. . .
Another point is simply to remind that Obama-as-Marxist; cannot recognize ANY 'individual'; much less individual initiative/success.
(The road to success is an internal; individual journey; not a public thoroughfare or public bridge to 'somewhere'. Liberalism, of course; would have one believe otherwise. . .)
And so it is; Marxists always have a cheap escape. It is certainly fair to assume; that Obama never earned a decent grade by personal merit; nor his access to Harvard; not his 'Law Review' position; nor his placement at University of Chicago; nor as well; his successful advance as a 'present only' Congressman, in Illinois.
Easy as well, to see; 'how it is' that Obama imagines; that success should come, from another man's effort. It is a seductive, cheap idea, for those so inclined. Inclinations invited; inculcated by every Liberal, Marxist - and so narcissitic - narrative.
One guy named Jason has a little business mowing lawns. I seem to be the guy he comes to for help with equipment problems. Jason is crippled on his right side, neither his leg or arm on that side are very mobile or strong. He can understand what he hears but he can only say one word, or make just the one sound really. Of course, he can kind of change the emotion of that one sound a little bit, but that's all he's got. Using sign language he explained to me one day he had been shot in the face with a shotgun.
Jason clearly doesn't have much money. When he finally communicates his needs and understands the cost, he goes away for days apparently working to come up with the money. Whatever his circumstances, the why and how doesn't really matter much. It's pretty clear he's a hard and determined worker now. Of course according to Obama, he didn't build that business....
Then there's JB. I took the chance, something I rarely do, to ask him what he thought about Obama's "you didn't build that" line. Jb has his own property management business. He comes to us for all kinds of repairs and the word astute describes him pretty well. He's very well spoken and a hard worker who knows about employees and contracted labor and he does much of the work he has personally.
He's a firm believer in the American dream just like any one of us here at FR. Nevertheless he somehow managed to misinterpret or create on the spot an almost opposite take on Obama's words. A rough quote; "He meant it's all of us, the customers and taxpayers who help support the infrastructure of any successfully business."
Sorry, I kind of left it there. I'm just not into talking correctional politics with my customers. But that's just that. Pointing out the truth to a guy like JB isn't my job. That's a politicians job.
What about, Fundementally Transforming The United States Of America,Changing our History,Changing Our Traditions,do the Morons and Talking Heads STILL AFTER 3 and a Half years Not Get? I dont think in My entire Life Have I ever seen such a Case of Mass DENIAL. The only Place I have seen it is in News reels Of world war two on the History Channel,with that hitler&chamberlainaiving that Paper around Claiming Peace in Our time! Just like Hitler told the World what his intentions were in Mein KamfObama Has said exactly what he was going to do and Unfortunately he has just about suceeded beyond his wildest dreams,Soory Rush,as you said He hopes he fails,as you know he Hasnt,but the Denial form the entire country trembling in their underwear that they might be Accused of being a Racist,IS STUNNING!
