(CBS) George Zimmerman will appear on the Fox News channel's Sean Hannity program at 9pm eastern time Wednesday.
The first major interview with Zimmerman, who is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, will take up Hannity's entire hour-long program, according to a statement from Fox News.
According to the statement, "Zimmerman will open up about what happened the night of Trayvon Martin's death and his experience in the aftermath of the fatal shooting."
Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and maintains that he shot Martin in self-defense.
Long-time trial consultant and psychologist Amy Singer, PhD, who consulted for the defense in the Casey Anthony case, said Wednesday that Zimmerman's decision to be interviewed on national television while under indictment for murder is both rare and, in her opinion, ill-advised.
"You don't want to say anything that will come back and bite you," said Singer, president of Trial Consultants, Inc. "I guess what they're trying to do is damage control, but I'm not sure this is the best way to address rumors."
Indeed, according to the Fox statement, Zimmerman and his defense attorney Mark O'Mara will address "rumors circulating about the bail donations and hidden money."

He should not do this. If he wants to be defended in public, his lawyer team should do it. Not him!!!!! It is too easy to say something you do not mean and to be misunderstood!
Don’t do it, George! Shut the heck up, already!
You missed my point - he is on the news almost every bowel movement and no one seems to be being held accountable for the tribal warfare going on in the streets of a major US city.
It the chief of police and mayor were covered as much as Zimmerman the streets of Chicago would be a heck of a lot safer.
I’d bet 99% of the people don’t even know the names or races of those killed in Chicago but we all have to have Zimmermans aunt, second cousin and kindergarten teachers comments.
George has got to be the dumbest....
_... For Updates Later.
I can understand your boredom with this case if you do not live in Florida
However, I am very concerned.
They are trying to lynch a man who clearly shot a perp while the perp was assaulting him. And, we have a GOP governor and a GOP Atty Gen, working with some of the most vile Black Racists, trying to use this case to take away our rights to self-defense, and our 2d Amendment rights
If they are able to frauduently convict Zimmerman....get ready for more of your rights to erode
I am mixed about the interview...though I do lean in favor of Zimm doing it
He has already admitted he shot Martin, and, the prosecution pretty much has stated that there is no evidence to dispute Zimms side of the story. The slander and libel from the media and the courts here has been awful, and he needs to counter it
As for Mark O’Mara...he is a horrible attorney. And, I believe he is on his way out. Those released phone calls....the biggest story out of those is how O’Mara lied to the judge, the court....he knew about the money raising web site, and had an idea how much was in there. I see a new attorney for Zimmerman soon
Here’s your update:

O’Mara doesn’t look too happy,
While I agree, this probably isn’t the best idea, probably in his mind “when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose”. O’Mara hasn’t done Zimmerman any favors. The judge is just as bad as Corey, Di La Rionda, Crump and Jackson.
What’s left for him? For absolutely NO reason his life has been ruined. This shouldn’t have gone any farther than Orlando. The absolute worst thing he should have been charged with was manslaughter. Ever. The rest of it is crap.
Watching it now. Zimmerman has smiled way too much. He’ll be crucified in the liberal media over this interview. No doubt the “body language expect”, that O’Reilly has on all the time will say how “nervous” he was and he looks like he’s lying. If I was his lawyer, this would be his last interview.
Don’t think he’s doing too bad.
