In context of the "mounting pressure" for Mitt Romney to provide more tax and employment records, a reporter recently asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney whether President Obama would set an example in transparency and release some of his records that critics have asked for. That question was fingernails on the chalkboard to Carney. "Is that from Donald Trump?" Carey sneered, and laughed -- this time conspicuously alone.

Yes, many want to see Obama's college records for grades and courses (as with G.W. Bush and others). But in Obama's case, the primary reason to see his college applications is to learn whether the president applied for college in the U.S. as a foreign student.

There is reason to believe that he was and that in order to have been enrolled in public school in Indonesia, Barry had to be a citizen. Aaron Klein of WND.com notes that "[a]fter attending the Assisi Primary School, Obama later was enrolled at SDN Menteng 1, an Indonesian public school." That Obama might have been a citizen of Indonesia and later presented himself as a foreign student in the U.S. is no "birther" conspiracy theory. It's the gravamen of the college records question.

Because Lolo had been turned down a permanent resident visa by the U.S., they would have planned to live in Indonesia and raise Barack as their son for the indefinite future.
So it is quite likely, and would have been quite natural, for Barack to have become the legal son of Lolo and also to have acquired Indonesian citizenship.
Did that mean Barack necessarily lost his U.S. citizenship by virtue of Lolo adopting him and becoming an Indonesian national?
Probably not. U.S. courts at the time looked to whether the child was old enough to understand what he was doing in relinquishing U.S. citizenship. Barack was probably too young at the time for a court to hold that by being adopted by Lolo and becoming an Indonesian citizen he intended to relinquish U.S. citizenship.
However, once Barack became older, say 17 years old or older, he would have been responsible for his own actions that demonstrated an intention to relinquish U.S. citizenship. (See Section 1481(a) of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Act and the cases interpreting that statute, prior to the 1986 legislative changes which loosened the standards)
Under our law at the time, the answer is not given on the face of the statute -- one must examine the facts and circumstances surrounding each case and make a conclusion as to the intent looking at the situation as a whole.
An important and relevant fact to this determination is that Indonesia did not allow dual citizenship at that time.
Therefore, an action by Obama in holding himself out as an Indonesian citizen would mean that he would have chosen Indonesia over the United States. On the other hand, if Indonesia had allowed dual citizenship, and Obama had done something to demonstrate his preference to be an Indonesian citizen, there would be doubt -- maybe he intended to be both an Indonesian citizen and a U.S. citizen. Because Indonesia was very clear that if someone was to be an Indonesian citizen they could NOT be a citizen of another country, then if Obama chose Indonesian nationality he was thereby denying an intention to be a U.S. citizen.
What kind of action taken by Obama, after he was old enough to know what he was doing, would demonstrate that he no longer wanted to be a U.S. citizen and was relinquishing U.S. citizenship?
When Obama went to visit his mother in Indonesia, did he apply for an Indonesian passport or renew a passport he had from when he was younger? That would strongly indicate a desire to have sole allegiance to Indonesia and not the U.S., because he would have known that Indonesia did not countenance its passport-holders being nationals of another country. We don't know what he did.
What passport did he use to travel to Pakistan? What passport did he use to travel to Bali when he was supposedly working on his first book? No one knows.
Did Obama hold himself out as an Indonesian citizen when he applied for college admission? Or in order to obtain financial support? No one knows.
I’d like to know if the president passed any math courses and actually has a snowball’s chance of understanding what an exponential function is. (as in the case of our federal government’s debt problem).

“Why Obama’s College Records Matter”
It matters because if employers require proof of education, residency, employment history, criminal background checks and hair test drug screening for Americans who would be paid $9 an hour for a temporary part-time job with no “benefits” then citizens ought to expect the same kind of scrutiny be applied to a candidate or nominee for the office of President of the United States, the vice-presidency, cabinet appointees, members of Congress, etc, etc, etc.
I like the idea that Romney is holding out to showing tax returns, and hopefully has the guts to turn this around on Obama, by asking him to be transparent as well.
In the end, I don’t think Romney has anything to hide, but if he caves to this imposter, then it kicks him down another notch amongst us here.

These chuckleheads might've gotten clean away with this malarkey 20 years ago, but with the amount of information (and, admittedly, disinformation) available to so many these days, I think it's only a matter of time before the true nature of the perfidy that is the "Obama" pResidency comes to light, at least in the broader court of opinion, if not in a duly constituted legal setting.

I think Obama is a reasonably intelligent man. But, I don’t think he’s all that.
In fact, I was watching Fox showing him do his “you didn’t build your business” talk yesterday. He was clearly struggling putting the words and ideas together. The delivery was very weak, and he was oozing uncertainty.
In a speech class it was clearly a C- effort. And this is the master speech maker.
That’s how I see him in other areas: capable but nothing to write home about.
The American people should know who positioned this post turtle and why. Let’s open all of his applications to college and his transcripts. And we still need to find out which Social Security number he used as I.D.
I disagree with your view. I think Obma is at best average intelligence, but he fried his remaining brain cells with pot and coke. He clearly is not any sort of extemporaneous speaker, which is a sign of intelligence. He is not a master speech maker. He does know how to read the words of other writers. He is undoubtedly a product of Affirmative Action preferences and his “black” skin.
