Several years ago, on a group trip to Lake Powell, the subject of gun ownership and concealed carry came up during an evening conversation...
One of the women mentioned she would bet that at least one of the men in our group was armed, and shot her best disapproving look straight at me...My wife gave me a knowing wink and a sly litle smile; she knew damn well I was armed and would be at all times unless I was swimming or water skiing...
Our female friend then followed up with the remark that she “hated guns” and they were “only for killing people”, and she didn’t think there was any reason for anyone who wasn’t a cop or in the military to ever have a gun...
I told her I was happy to know she felt that way, and thanked her for relieving me of any moral obligation to defend her...And then promised her in front of all present that out of respect for her opinions, I would never use my gun to protect her from attack or harm...
Kinda brought the conversation to a sudden halt, and the subject of guns and gun ownership never came up again on that trip...
Does “hoist by her own petard” apply here?
