OLYMPIA, July 12.If you think the cost of health insurance is going to go down under health care reform, think again, says the CEO of Washington states largest individual-insurance health plan. Many purchasers of individual insurance plans may see premiums rise 50 to 70 percent.

I left my home of 45 years, Seattle, last summer for a small farm in central KY. This article is another example of the reason I left that state.
I actually worked for Blue Cross when the state had, for a short time, its own “preexisting condition” law. A lot of insurance companies left the state and they eventually did away with it.
I am going to take a wild guess and say that when people can wait until they are sick or injured to purchase medical insurance, insurance company revenues go way down and their expenses go way up.
My daughter’s premium tripled last year. She is 25. She dropped it as she just couldn’t afford it.
And when every checkup, doctor visit for an ingrown hair, birth control prescription AND procedures, etc. etc. are all covered at 100% with no co-pay or deductible, the rates have to skyrocket just to cover all of the free stuff.
This is going to cause many thousands of people to drop their health insurance, because they have to pay for food and housing, but they can always go bankrupt on medical expenses if need be.
...And if they repeal it in 2013 do any of us think that we will see staggering 50-75% rate DECREASES??? Nope.
Obama’s plan is working well - there won’t be any private insurance in 5 yrs.
And I’m really not wealthy enough to go to the boutique offshore clinics that the “rich” will head for.
Of course this has a double benefit for the fedgov - fixing the Social Sec and Medicare financial “problem”
except for Arlen Specter ...
does anyone know if medicare is sufficient to please the Obama insurance??? don't want to ask my agent because she is in business to sell insurance and I believe she lies a lot...
actually I really don't give a damn any more...so feed up with this jerk and all his policies he keeps putting into force...hopefully he will be voted OUT come November 6.
I got your October Surprise right here: When the employee health plan choices come out in late October just in time for the November elections. Nothing Obama can say about Bain capital or anything else about Romney can compare to a known hit in the wallet. Because when all is said and done, people vote their pocketbook.
This is the exact purpose of Obamacare.
To eliminate private insurance.
You think libs go batsh1t when we get rid of government unions?
This is the libs trying to get rid of a private industry so they can take it over and be the single-payer system (ie monopolistic government) that’s the only thing left.
The whole design of the law is to kill off private insurance while framing the insurance companies as being the reason why they’re going out of business and usher in single-payer. Obama said so on the campaign trail.
Insurance premiums go up because they have to cover so much more by law. Nobody can afford it, they drop out. Go into govt exchanges. Insurance companies drop their individual coverage areas. Businesses start dropping insurance because it’s less expensive to pay the penalty and Obama’s kept the economy sh1tty so it’s a real factor. Losing private businesses insurance business, private insurance can’t find a way to profitably stay in business.
And now government’s the only guy left standing. On purpose.
Yeah probably, but it depends on your state. There is a claims/premium ratio that limits the premium by the amount paid out in claims.
Here, I forget the actual legal threshold, maybe 75%, but the major carrier was paying out around 85%.
That's one of the comments on the article you just posted.
Specter was not a Republican.
Unfortunately Beshear is implementing this law full steam ahead.
I was afraid of that.
Go Cardinals!!! ;-)
of course you’re right...and crossing over to the dark side got him used and abused by the rats...
