“Pakistani-born passenger who was believed to be the last person in the bathroom.”
Mormon? Amish?
No explosives found, no blasting caps. Sounds like wire terrorism!
Thinking themselves wise, the TSA become fools. That is the problem with reactive maintenance, when you worry about the symptom, (bombs), not the problem, (terrorists).
Might I suggest we stop searching grannys, and search everyone or no one. Israel searches with scanners, interviews with agents and racially and other ways profiles. Perhaps we should copy them, instead of rolling dice.
It sounds to me more like a spoof.
Wires? Only wires?
Solid or stranded? If solid, they might have something there. If stranded, someone’s earbuds or wired headset, likely failed and they tore ‘em up.
Just let the TSA test everybody's drinks that are bought beyond the security gate, and that will make us all safer.

If there were any 3-year-old girls or geriatric grannies on board, they clearly need to get equal treatment.
“They also interviewed a Pakistani-born passenger who was believed to be the last person in the bathroom. A U.S. citizen for 11 years, he denied any knowledge of the wires...”
Well, of COURSE he denied!!! So they then let him go. Shame on them for profiling, anyway /sarc
Suspicious wires? Were they wearing masks???
Everybody’s suspiciously wired nowadays!
If they are going to question the Pakastani - they have to find 1 white haired granny to question too.
Totally Wired! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT-ZD5Q8G2w
A couple of wires on the floor and the Government uses it to pump up fear, and justify the existence of the massive Federal Gestapo that is dedicated to one thing: taking away our freedom. This has nothing to do with aircraft safety or national security.
Probably one of the cheapest terrorist attacks to date. Caused the plane to turn around, be thoroughly searched, delayed and inconvenienced all the passengers, and zeroed out any credibility of the TSA. And some relatives and others wonder why I don’t fly.
I would assume everyone was searched before they were allowed off the plane or at least allowed to go on their way. No explosives, no bomb. Easy as that. A couple of wires does not make a bomb.
My guess is that some woman wearing an underwire bra got fed up with it riding up on her during long flights and ripped it out but missed the trash can in the bathroom.
