China now boasts 73 of the biggest global companies stealing the number two spot on the Fortune 500 list from Japan.
China has landed 73 companies on the list, Japan has 68 and the U.S. has 132.
Although the U.S. has a clear margin, China added 12 companies to the list since last year while the amount of U.S. companies has dropped by 14.
In the last decade, the amount of U.S. companies on the list has fallen from 197 to 132. Conversely, China only had 11 companies on the list in 2002 compared to todays 73.
