THE SUV DID IT!
Powerline ^ | July 11,2012 | JOHN HINDERAKER

Scott wrote here about the appalling case of a 16-year-old St. Paul girl, Clarisse Grime, who was sitting in the grass at her high school, nowhere near the street, when she was struck and killed by a vehicle that careened out of control and bounced off a fire hydrant. The vehicle was driven by an illegal immigrant who has been in Minnesota for ten years without ever having a driver’s license. He was known to local authorities, having been convicted of drunk driving in 2001 and driving without a license just a few months ago. But the immigration laws are not enforced in St. Paul.

So today, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported on Miss Grime’s funeral. This was the paper’s headline: “St. Paul teen killed by SUV remembered at her funeral.” Killed by SUV? That doesn’t really seem to be the salient point. But the paper continues with that theme in the story’s second paragraph:

Clarisse Grime, run over by an out-of-control sport-utility vehicle, was Martha Tamene Woldegiorgis’s only child.

If you read to the end, you learn some of the facts, at least, about the vehicle’s driver, Carolos Viveros-Colorado. But somehow the story is a little neater and a little less troubling if you focus on the SUV.

When 16-year-old Clarisse Grime was run over by an out-of-control Ford Expedition outside Harding High School in St. Paul this past Thursday, the Star Tribune originally portrayed the accident as an issue of traffic control:

In short order, however, police arrested the driver of the out-of-control vehicle — one Carolos Viveros-Colorado — and charged him with criminal vehicular homicide. The Star Tribune headlined the follow-up story reporting the arrest with the news that the driver lacked a driver’s license.

Reading a little more deeply into the story one discovers, however, that the lack of a driver’s license is the least of it. By his own account, Viveros-Colorado was suffering from a physical ailment that led to the accident. He shouldn’t have been driving, with or without a driver’s license.

Moreover, it turns out that Viveros-Colorado entered the United States illegally more than a decade ago. He is one of those whom the Star Tribune refers to as “undocumented.” (The Star Tribune reports that Viveros-Colorado’s “sister, whom he had called after the crash, told police that Viveros-Colorado was an undocumented immigrant who was in the United States illegally, according to the complaint.”)

In this case, the lack of documentation includes a missing driver’s license, though Viveros-Colorado was convicted of drunk driving in 2001 and was convicted this past April for driving without a license. That run-in with the authorities cost him $100.

Viveros-Colorado also used a false name and stolen Social Security number to work. On the bright side, however, Mr. Viveros-Colorado wouldn’t have needed to use his false name or stolen Social Security number to vote in Minnesota

In other professions, if you allowed a known defect to remain in service despite repeatedly verifying the potentially serious danger it presents to the general public, you would likely be torn apart via litigation when that potential harm is realized.

Someone is accountable.

In other words they want us to be judge-mental of the SUV not the scum driver allowed to continue to operate the SUV because of scum political initiatives.

The blood is on the hands of the politicians and media of the area. May they die an early and painful death.

The sad thing is that no one is accountable, because the laws have been suspended.

SUV’s are in the same class as GUNS. They hang around in alleys, street corners, crowded smoke filled back rooms and plot how to go out and “KILL”, yes they plot to kill. They do this everyday, ever notice when a standard sedan is involved and someone gets killed? The car is never blamed, nope, an innocent car would never wantonly go out and commit murder, only those nasty SUV’s (can’t blame the innocent “illegal” border crosser, yes that law breaker). Better yet, all those guns that kill people, those evil guns, always scheming how, when, who and where to claim their next victim.

Try this sometime, set several loaded firearms on a table (for the best results, video tape their actions), watch as they scheme, yes, how they scheme to grow legs, arms, bodies to carry out their atrocities.

Although of course we can’t know for sure, I certainly suspect that this 16 year old girl was all for the illegal immigrants and supported the fact that they are allowed to be there and run rampant in the area unchecked. So it is hard to have any sympathy for her or her family since they live there and one would assume they support the current lawless situation. Reap what you sow, people. And decisions have consequences.

Maybe so, but come on, she was 16. 16-year-olds, especially girls, are known to be vulnerable to leftwing brainwashing. If she'd lived, she might have had a chance to see how ridiculous that all was. I know we're going to have to do some hard things to restore sanity to this country, but do you really want to be that hard-hearted this early?

Someone or possibly many someones, should be hung for this, and not just the illegal immigrant driver. If I were the mother I’d be on the warpath.

This was the paper’s headline: “St. Paul teen killed by SUV remembered at her funeral.

Odd how SUV's commit murder but Prius's never do... It's almost like it's the same stinking stupid bias the MSM is known for... JOHN HINDERAKER needs to find a new line of work.

My mistake JOHN HINDERAKER wrote the truthful story about idiots who blamed a car... Sorry 'bout that.

See, it’s not just me.........

You'll notice that he didn't reply to me with that condemnation - he replied to the other guy. And you know why he did that? Because he most likely understood what I wrote, unlike you.

In other words, it's just you.

You are agreeing with what the other dude said, which was totally irrelevant !

“She might have had a chance to see how ridiculous that all was”

ALL WHAT WAS ? What was there that was ridiculous ?? What did she say or do that was ridiculous ?

Give it up

OK, I’m going to explain this to you ONCE, so you can untwist your panties.

The original guy said the girl was probably pro-illegal immigration, so no sympathy. The meaning of my response was that even if she had been, she was only 16. You can’t blame a 16-year-old for having kooky ideas. 16-year-olds tend to lose their kooky ideas as they get older. Get it now?

Here’s what I don’t get.

Why would you indulge in a crazy ass hypothetical by someone who had no idea about any information about what happened.

The dude was obviously whacked out with his comments.

Why did you respond as if they were pertinent ?
